New March 2024 LEGO and Technic Formula One-themed sets arrive just in time for the F1 race season

LEGO is set to embrace Formula One like never before with 4 new exciting sets launching on 1 March 2024 across LEGO Icons, Technic and Speed Champions.

The most exciting releases are the LEGO Icons 10330 McLaren MP4/4 & Ayrton Senna (available to pre-order) which features a touching tribute to the legendary Ayrton Senna who appears as a minifigure, and one of his most well-known quotes.

Technic fans will be delighted with 42171 Mercedes-AMG F1 W14 E Performance, which will see the Mercedes F1 car join 42141 McLaren Formula 1 Race Car at the 1:13 scale level.

For builders on a budget, a scaled down 42165 Mercedes-AMG F1 W14 E Performance Pull-Back, and Speed Champions 76919 2023 McLaren Formula 1 Race Car round up the great lineup of 2024 LEGO F1 sets.

The timing of 42171 Mercedes-AMG F1 W14 E Performance couldn’t be any worse with the shock news of star driver Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari from Mercedes which literally just dropped. Woops!

These look great esp the tribute to Senna

Despite Ron Weasley’s Seal Of Approval, I’ve always been quite indifferent to the Racing and Speed Champions sets.

Those printed helmets pique my interest, though. Might this mean we could get new unprinted yellow and orange helmets through Pick-A-Brick this year?

Lego needs defiantly and good RC interface and an strong and fast motor !
just think about how much fun it would be racing two LEGO F1 build vs each other !

waiting already over 40 years for real Lego RC but Lego failed every year since

As a McLaren fan, I’ll definitely be picking up the Senna model and the Speed Champs one.

The livery isn’t quite right (for obvious reasons) on the MP4/4, but they’ve done a good job with the shape.

The choice of the Mercedes W14 is an odd one and has to be down to licensing. Last year’s car wasn’t as bad overall as the previous W13, but at least the W13 won a race (quite memorably, as it was future #1 driver George Russell’s maiden win).

I do hope the tradition of Technic F1 cars continues though, one a year would be nice.

Gosh this is a dream come true! These sets are a need.

Good to get more F1 cars from teams like McLaren. Hopefully there are more partnerships in future (Aston Martin, perhaps?) as I wrote in my article in April https://jaysbrickblog.com/news/formula-one-lego-a-history-of-the-bricks-partnership-with-motorsport/

2024 Is really shaping up with the Star Wars and F1 line already ! We’re all waiting for you to empty your wallet and review them for us XD The standout for me is the Amg which is at least afordable. For SW I’d want the ‘Boarding Tantive IV for the memorable scene of Old Daddy Vader killing rebels, we all like it when the bad guys get the good guys right?
Guissing Vaderfan will review the formulas.
    Cant wait

  7. Debelius says:

Oh so many thoughts on this!

Firstly the Senna car was of course a giant cigarette packet, and whilst I understand why they can’t do it as such, it just seems very wrong to me, enough that I will probably give it a miss.

A shame that they chose that dog of a Mercedes. I doubt even the most ardent Mercedes fan will want to remember that one.

But that speed champions McLaren? Yes please!

  8. Marie says:

I’m an f1 fan pre Netflix hype. I haven’t been online. Opened emails of course clicked through to see these sets. AND THIS IS HOW I FIND OUT ABOUT LEWIS NEWS!! I’m glad you included a link cos just for a moment I thought it was just a joke. So add breaking news to your resume. I legit laughed when I saw it was true. Biggest news in f1 and I learned it from a Lego site lol I legit love it.
These sets look really great. Will have to save up and jump on it for sure. The shape and car lines look pretty great here and size too should be a great build.

I couldnt help but laugh when I saw that LEGO has released MORE cars…for all of the people who were upset because LEGO Ideas selected the Botanical Garden set last year as a final when there was *gasp* already 1 other botanical garden set available. They failed to noticed however, that there are constantly new cars released all the time and, to me, that is the most redundant and overdone “theme”.
    In other words: BORING
