This 2,079-piece set was based on the designs of Steve Guinness, and features mechanical functions where the keys and hammer move, just like a real typewriter, and makes for a fantastic display model as well.

To learn more about the design process, special features and how this incredible LEGO set came together, be sure to check out the Ideas Typewriter Designer Q&A session from RLFM Days 2021, where I got to sit in a group interview session with Samuel Johnson, Design Manager for LEGO Ideas, Design Master Wes Talbott and Designer James May, the latter two worked on bringing Steve Guinness’ Typewriter to life.

If you’re shopping for LEGO, it might also interest you to know that the LEGO Winnie the Pooh has also restocked online, so if you’ve been waiting to get your hands on the set after constantly being out of stock, now’s your chance.

Be sure to also read my LEGO Winnie the Pooh review to see why I consider it the best set of 2021 so far!

After buying the Grand Piano at the stroke of midnight, I thought I would give the Typewriter a miss to save space for what looks to be increased onslaught of irresistible sets. After reading the articles on this set ahead of its release though, eh who needs space. Another midnight buy it was.
