Review: LEGO 40682 Spring Garden House GWP

We’re almost midway through March, and almost at Easter, and LEGO has once again prepared a Spring/Easter-themed Seasonal Gift with Purchase (GWP) for 2024.

LEGO does Spring/Easter-themed sets nearly every year, and here’s a quick review of 40682 Spring Garden House, which will be available from 12-31 March 2024, when you spend US$80 / AU$130 / €80 on LEGO.com.

It’s a nice and easily achieved threshold, like previous Spring GWPs, so if there’s any remaining March 2024 releases that you have your eye on, this could be a nice little bonus if you want to get some LEGO sets to occupy you for the Easter break.

Check your local LEGO Offers and Promotions page for more information. You can also check your local LEGO.com store, as there may be a decent selection of sets featured in LEGO’s 2024 Easter sale too.

Special thanks to LEGO for sending this set over for review! If you’re thinking of picking this set up, please consider using the affiliate links in this post. I may receive a small commission with each purchase that goes a long way in helping support the work I do on the blog!

40682 Spring Garden House Set Details

Set Name: Spring Garden House
Set number: 40682
Pieces: 277
GWP Threshold: US$80 / AU$130 / €80
GWP Redemption Period: 12 – 31 March 2024
Theme: GWP, Seasonal

For a 277-piece GWP, this is quite a simple and fun build. Quite substantial, really considering you only need to spend US$80 / AU$130 / €80 to qualify for this free gift with purchase.

The build is very simple, but quite charming, and takes the Easter-themed GWP in a slightly different direction, blending some of the cutesy elements of previous Easter GWPs.

Here’s a selection of previous Easter-themed GWPs, including last year’s excellent 40587 Easter Basket.

We get a fun twist on the Easter Egg design concept with this delightful pastel-coloured Spring Garden House. The model is quite large and substantial for a GWP, so it makes for a pretty decent Easter Egg display if you’re really into the Easter Spirit.

It’s a garden house, and there’s plenty of storage space inside, with so much shelving, a red bucket to collect Easter Egg, and even a small nest in the loft!

Oh, and the roof can also swing open, to make it look like the Easter Egg is hatching open, which is a neat little play feature that’s integrated very nicely into the design.

You can’t have Easter without a Bunny, or a Chick, and this set comes with both! Not having to choose between both critters is a nice touch, and I like having these 2 goofy dudes around.

They add a lot of charm and playability to the mix as well, and I like that the Bunny can hold a carrot and watering can.

They’re made of a very small amount of bricks, but it doesn’t compromise on their appeal.

What I liked:

  • Cute spin on Easter Eggs, bunnies and chicks
  • Lots of large pastel-coloured elements
  • Cute characters add playability to it

What I didn’t like:

  • Not much to dislike here!

Final Thoughts:

For a seasonal and Easter-themed GWP, there’s plenty to like here. You get a large Easter Egg house which is quite charming, especially with the pastel-coloured tones and how sizable it is as a model.

The brick-built Bunny and Easter who are tending to the Garden or Easter Egg hunting make for some cute playable companions and all together, sets up quite a fun little scene that feels a bit more substantial than your typical Easter/Spring-themed GWP.

The best part is that the purchase threshold for 40682 Spring Garden House is nice and low, which makes this feel like quite a significant add-on if you’re planning a mid-march LEGO purchase.

All in all, it’s very cute and I hope we see more “homes” like these for Seasonal sets this year and maybe we’ll get a small neighbourhood of cute animals and their kitschy homes too.

Rating and score: 4/5 ★★★✰✰
