There’s a lot to be excited about here, and I think this is one of the finest LEGO Harry Potter waves ever released – there are so many fan favourite characters introduced as minifigures – Kreacher (!!), Mafalda Hopkirk, Albert Runcorn, and Reg & Mary Cattermole, Corban Yaxley as well as the updated versions of characters like Lupin in Werewolf form, and Tonks with her pink hair.
There are also plenty of animal moulds such as the return of Thestrals, including a baby version, baby Fawkes (lol, as a little red bird), Sirius in his animagus dog form, and even a Cat Patronus
More importantly, aside from key scenes from some of the latter movies like Prisoner of Azkaban, and Goblet of Fire, we get settings from the Deathly Hallows and Order of the Phoenix.
I cannot explain how happy I am that we’re FINALLY getting 12 Grimauld Place (which has a mechanical play feature that pops out!), AND Ministry of Magic for the very first time. Not to mention a very excellent Shrieking Shack which has been WAY overdue.
That said, the ONE set I’ll be rushing out to buy on Day One is 76404 Hungarian Horntail Dragon, is an enormous and highly detailed display model, complete with its own stand.
It looks stunning at this scale, and is my number #1 pick from this entire wave, which is crazy considering how jam-packed it is with great sets.
Price-wise, some of these are quite pricey, but I’m thankful that there hasn’t been any huge increase in prices, which is a good sign that LEGO is holding off on jacking up their prices thanks to inflation. The Hungarian Horntail for less than US$50, and Shrieking Shack and Ministry of Magic being under US$100 is also a very pleasant surprise.
What a fantastic wave, and I’m so happy on behalf of all LEGO Harry Potter fans!
