40574 LEGO Brand Store is a newly updated buildable LEGO store for 2022 that everyone can buy!

LEGO have also revealed 40574 LEGO Brand Store, a brand new and updated for 2022 version of the LEGO Store, that will be available for purchase on 1 August 2022, and will retail for US$36.99

I have a soft spot for these LEGO Store sets because of how meta they are – you can walk into a LEGO Store to buy a LEGO Store that you can build out of LEGO bricks.

This is the 2nd buildable LEGO store released in 2022, the first being 40528 LEGO Store, which is only available at new store openings as a gift with purchase (GWP).

40574 LEGO Brand Store is slightly different, as it will be available for purchase from the general public from LEGO.com, and will likely be available as a LEGO Store exclusive too.

Here’s a look at the back of the box – do note that there seems to be an error with the front box art, which seems to suggest that the box has a more rectangular shape…

I have an early review copy… and the box certainly doesn’t look like that, so I’m not sure what’s going on there and if there are regional variations.

Here’s a closer look at the front of the set, which features a brightly coloured white, yellow and tan facade.

The Store Design has been updated with the new “white store” design, which is standard with all new LEGO Stores, and I imagine that LEGO are working hard to refurbish all their LEGO stores around the world to be up to date with this new version.

It’s unlike 40528 LEGO Store which is more of micro model, and is a gift with purchase.

It’s pretty cool that the back opens up via hinges, allowing the retail floorspace to expand, and make it more accessible for you to play with the interiors and minifigures.

The model includes familiar feature an sights such as a buildable cash register, Brick Pit, LEGO boxes, Pick-A-Brick Wall, safari photo stand, castle and train micro-models for window display, plus decorative stickers.

Here’s a look at the LEGO set boxes which are present in the set (these are all stickers). There are plenty of sets I recognise such as (for the first time ever), LEGO Ideas sets like the Typewriter, Grand Piano and now-retired Dinosaur Fossils, as well as Technic, Creator and Friends.

These “miniature” LEGO sets are usually based on existing sets… but there seems to be some sets that I do not recognise such as a LEGO City Tanker/Container Ship, and a Creator Carousel. Maybe these are hints at upcoming 2023 sets?

This looks like a fun little build and I can imagine they will be really popular, as you can buy several and build quite a sizable LEGO Store.

I also like that it’s an actual set that you can buy on its own, and not have to attend a LEGO Store Opening, or jump through GWP hoops to get one.
