Here’s what I had to work with. A most random bunch of elements, with plenty of blues, and brows to #MakeLEGOSonicMoreEggman.

It was a pretty interesting challenge, and I decided to also challenge myself by using the elements provided and not introduce any other parts from my own collection to see what I could come up with on my own.

I decided to go lo-fi, and begin with an 8-bit LEGO Sonic pixel art-esque build, and started with Sonic’s head and face! The large blue slopes were really useful to bring Sonic’s quills to life, and I think I did okay with what I had to work with!

Next, to figure out how to make our dear old 8-bit Sonic more Eggman.

Dr. Eggman is a a fashion and style icon, so to me, I was inspired to make LEGO Sonic follow Robotnik’s sartorial genius and dress up as Eggman!

I had very very few red and black elements to work with, which was a huge challenge, but I somehow managed to put this chibi-body together! The legs were the biggest challenge, as I had mostly exhausted the black elements – thankfully ball-joints came to the rescue!

Let’s combine the two!

And here’s my completed build, alongside the new Dr. Eggman minifigure! I dubbed it an Egg-Bit LEGO Sonic dressed in his Eggman best!

All in all, I had a lot of fun with this challenge, as I don’t usually MOC, but I pushed myself to best interpret the #MakeLEGOSonicMoreEggman challenge, and I’m quite pleased with the end result.

The element limitation was by far the hardest thing, but I made the best with what I was given, and I was quite happy that it could also stand on its two feet!

I’ve also submitted my entry to the LEGO Ideas Challenge, and once approved, should show up in the gallery.

If you’d like to, you too can join the Dr Eggman Takeover challenge, and build your very own interpretation of how you’d #MakeLEGOSonicMoreEggman!

As it’s a LEGO Ideas challenge, you can also submit digital entries, as well as physical entries to the challenge, for the chance to win some excellent Sonic-themed prizes!

Entries for the Dr Eggman Takeover challenge close on July 11th 2023 at 6:00 a.m. EST, before the fan voting segment begins! So please vote for me when votes open from 13 July to 20 July!
