The LEGO Kids website has revealed three new LEGO City sets that will tie-in with the recent LEGO 2K Drive video game. I did have a feeling that the Summer 2023 LEGO City wave was pretty light on vehicles, which are usually the bread and butter of the City theme, but it makes sense now that these 3 sets have been revealed, as they’re packed with plenty of fun cars and vehicles aimed at kids 6 and up.
No release date or pricing available, but I expect these to be an August 2023 release.
These are pretty nice tie-ins to the 2K Drive game, especially 60395 Combo Race Pack which features 3 different vehicle modes for water, offroad and roads, which are a key component of the 2K Drive game mechanics.
Out of this trio of sets, I particularly like 60397 Monster Truck Race because of how zany and fun the Monster Trucks look, as well as the Lucha libre wrestler minifigure.
I do wonder if the purchase of these sets will unlock the vehicle designs in-game.

I’m skeptical to the actual game, for several reasons, but I’m happy to see Lego producing its own over-the-top racing theme again, instead of only opting for more or less successfully adapted models in the Speed Champions theme…
Jay Ong says
Oh… I absolutely expect a Speed Champions 2K Drive set in 2024. Probably tied in with new Seasons in their Drivers Pass.

I really like that Pirate Hat w/Hair. Is that a new element?
Håkan says
It’s been produced since 2020, apparently originally produced for the Pirate Girl CMF.
Jay Ong says
It’s been in a few sets and Build a Minifigure. It was also in Pirates of Barracuda Bay
Jeff Cooper says
It would have been nicer to get normal cars or commercial vehicles like in 2012-2017
Luke Moses says
There’s a minifig-scale Range Rover, though it comes in school-bus yellow.
Jay Ong says
Hopefully in City 2024!
