LEGO Adidas Ultraboost DNA sneakers are coming in April 2021!

The collaboration between LEGO and Adidas continues to deepen with the reveal of the Adidas Ultraboost DNA x LEGO Plate shoes!

Update: These seem to have sold out worldwide. If you want a pair and missed out, you can order them through StockX, a sneaker marketplace. Prices aren’t too crazy, and should slightly dip when people receive their pairs.

These adult sneakers take it to the next level, with a customisable Ultraboost cage, where you can slot in LEGO plates to customise the look of these Ultraboost sneakers.

These LEGO Ultraboosts have a release date of 8 April 2021, and will retail for US$160 in the United States, and AU$320 in Australia. The model number is FY7690.

Check out the product page that is already live on the Australian Adidas store. It seems like there won’t be a raffle from the Australian LEGO store, so these will be sold on a first-come-first-served basis.

I’ve already seen some other raffles go live on End Clothing so feel free to enter if you feel lucky!

Update 5/4/2021 : AsphaltGold has also listed the sneaker along with some new photos of the packaging!

Not going to lie, I think these look incredibly good. For LEGO fans who might’ve been put off by last year’s LEGO ZX-8000s because of the wild colours, these Ultraboosts are way more subdued, with the mostly white colourway punctuated by silver accents.

Here’s a better look at the packaging – the LEGO Ultraboosts will come with a custom LEGO brick-looking box, which looks pretty neat.

There’ll also be a custom-designed instruction leaflet, which riffs on actual LEGO instructions!

Fans who were disappointed that LEGO bricks were not compatible with the ZX-8000 will also be glad to know that you can now customise the look of these Ultraboosts with your very own LEGO plates.

I also love that there seems to be LEGO studs on the front, which give the usually smooth area some texture, and that LEGO DNA as well.

Here’s a better look at how the plates are inserted.

Here’s a look at the insole, which also appears to have raised LEGO studs and that iconic shade of bright yellow.

The best thing is that these are Ultraboosts. For those that aren’t in the know, Ultraboosts are performance runners and are widely considered to be THE most comfortable sneakers ever since Adidas debuted their Boost technology in 2013.

I have a large number of Ultraboosts in my personal collection and can vouch for just how amazing they are to wear – for walks, running, or even casually. They feel like you’re walking on clouds.

Ultraboosts also have a special place in my heart as they were the model that made me into the sneakerhead I am today.

The comfort combined with the iconic silhouette (Ultraboosts are one of Adidas best-selling models) and super clean colourway make this a winner in my book. The pricing is a little dear, but pretty par for the course with performance sneakers, especially with the added LEGO plate slots in the cage.

These were a massive surprise as I thought the next drop of LEGO Adidas adult sneakers were the monochromatic ZX-8000s. Really pleased that we’re finally getting some adult offerings, after kids Dots, Ninjago and other kid-focused apparel and sneakers.

The LEGO x Adidas Ultraboost DNA sneakers will be released on 8 April 2021, and will be available from Adidas stores or online. Best to check your local Adidas website and search for “FY7690” to see local pricing and availability.

Let me know what you think of how these LEGO Ultraboosts look! Can you see yourself wearing them?
