LEGO and Lofi Girl team up to create chill beats to build LEGO to

LEGO’s is on a collaboration-spree once again and this time, they’ve partnered with the Lofi Girl Youtube channel to create a chill lofi hip-hop playlist that serves as great background music to build LEGO to.

If you’re unaware, Lofi Girl is a popular Youtube livestreaming music channel, with lofi hip-hop beats that you can put on in the background. They’re the soundtrack of choice for those wanting some chilled out beats as you work, study or do something that requires focus without the music being too overpowering.

It’s an interesting collaboration that’s designed to reach new audiences, and with Lofi Girl being one of the most popular livestream music channels, and almost synonymous with the lofi hip-hop genre, LEGO is hoping to reach more Internet-y audiences through Lofi Girl.

The LEGO takeover begins with Lofi Girl being transformed into a brick statue, before crumbling away and turning into a minifigure, alongside her ubiquitous orange cat, and desk filled with ornaments.

The video loops for about 90 minutes, with Lofi Girl reading a tile, and taking time to look out the window as the orange cat stretches lazily. Check out the video on Youtube.

As part of this collaboration, there’s also a new LEGO Ideas Challenge, where you’re invited to submit a build that encapsulates where you’d like to escape to and relax while building and listening to music, featuring the iconic Lofi Girl character as a minifigure.

You could win some music-themed prizes, with the grand prize winner receiving 21334 Jazz Quartet, 21329 Fender Stratocaster, 21323 Grand Piano, 10312 Jazz Club, and The Lofi Girl’s Plush Collection.

Entries close October 17th, 2023 at 6:00 a.m. EST.

I spent a lot of my time working (and blogging) listening to Lofi Girl, so this is quite a cool collaboration, and I really would’ve loved a limited release Lofi Girl minifigure. That would’ve been really cool, and something for fans to collect.

I’ll definitely have this on when I’m building my next set!

Never heard of this lofi girl thing. Sounds neat, but not for me to be active while listening, puts me to sleep quickly.

I recall there was an earlier Lofi Girl reference in a Monkie King set or something, where one designer had included a sticker alluding to the Miyazaki-inspired mascot.

Oh that’s amazing! Lo-fi girl is on constantly here, so that’s a wonderful collab!

Lofi who!?!? Obviously I’m in the wrong galaxy.

Seriously though, I did give it a listen thinking that if it’s backed by Lego it must be halfway decent. Well, I got to about 5 mins then switched back to the Mozart piano sonata that I had queued up.

Sorry Jay, but we all have varying musical tastes and it’s unfortunate that ours don’t align here. I’ll swipe left methinks.

Sorry not sorry – that ‘xx who?’ schtick always makes me roll my eyes. It always comes across as pretentious, as proud to not have heard of something mainstream. As it happens, I hadn’t heard of the channel either, but I’d never feel the need to comment like you. And wow, 5 minutes. You really gave it good old try, didn’t you? I actually gave it a longer try and I was pleasantly surprised – as non-classical music goes, I would have thought you could appreciate this as it’s very mellow and non-intrusive. But no, you had to continue your pompous manner, oddly ‘apologising’ for ‘unfortunately’ having a different taste than the author. You don’t have to apologise for having different tastes… you could just not be pretentious about it.

good job Chantal. You really broke down Kevin’s pretentious manner in a way very hard to express. I hope Kevin realises that what he says was really unnecessary and the way he talked was condescending.

And you come off as one of those people who feel they’re better then the rest and feel the need to correct them. Who gives a care? ….no one
