LEGO Avatar theme officially confirmed for 2022!

One of the most heavily rumoured new LEGO themes of 2022 has just been confirmed in the most mundane way possible. James Cameron’s has been confirmed thanks to an interview on License Global, uncovered by UK LEGO site Bricksfanz!

“The LEGO Group will also have a full suite of building sets to recreate and display major movie moments across both the first “Avatar” film and “Avatar 2.”

Previously, there had been heavy rumours of an Avatar theme (James Cameron, not The Last Airbender), codenamed “Coconutfloating around online, with the following set numbers and prices:

75571 – €39.99 (560 pieces)
75572 – €54.99 (572 pieces)
75573 – €89.99 (887 pieces)
75574 – €139.99 (1,212 pieces)

It was a tossup between Avatar or Indiana Jones 5, but the confirmation of James Cameron’s Avatar getting LEGO sets featuring settings the first 2 movies has all but confirmed these rumours now.

It’s unknown if there will only be 4 sets from the wave, but for a license and tentpole movie like Avatar 2, which has a release date of 16 December 2022, I’d be surprised if this was all we’d be getting.

Remember, Avatar is the highest grossing movie of ALL time, netting US$2.84 billion at the box office, so I think this will be absolutely huge.

The quote confirms that we’ll get sets from Avatar 1, and Avatar 2, so check out some art from the movies below to get a sense of what to expect.

There’s also been concept art released for Avatar 2, which you can check out below. Pandora’s (the planet Avatar is based on)colour palette and settings are so otherworldly and alien, and I’m excited to see what the LEGO sets look like. I think it’ll be wild!

What do you think now that LEGO Avatar has all but been confirmed? Are you excited to get sets based on the movies?

I’ve been hoping they’d do this!
I really hope they find a way to make the bioluminescent aspect too. Maybe some glue in the dark paint or something lighting wise. As that’s where the magic is.

  2. Bob says:

    I like it alote

  3. Cortney J Fisher says:

Please re-create the tree of life lol maybe they will throw in some light up bricks on it

  4. Shelbie says:

All I’m saying is that if any of these are of the great leonopteryx (aka toruk) or the mountain banshees, or really any of the megafauna, I’m sold

  5. I love the avatar movie a lot & its been 1 of my favorite movies of them all.

I want to know if there is going to be any more avatar movies coming up?

  6. Reader says:

Now this could be a really interesting and beautiful theme. Avatar / Pandora has a good mix of environments – human space colonies, the giant tree, floating village, the animals, even the natives of Pandora. Then there’s the colour and beauty of Pandora’s environment. We could see a lot of interesting new elements and colours as a result. I really hope we see a lot of flora pieces for this.

    • Jay says:

Yup! And I’m really pumped that apparently the second one will take place underwater.

For a theme and license as huge as Avatar, I’m really interested to see what new moulds and colours they’ll come up with. I expect a ton of opalescent elements at the very least!

  7. Jay says:

Avatar is NOT any longer the highest grossing movie of ALL time. Spider Man beat those numbers recently. It doesn’t make Avatar any less appealing and the Lego news is still awesome but they no longer have that title.

    • U.S only. Not worldwide. Avatar still holds number one globally.

    • Ekene Ejiofor says:

You seem not to know what you say about the highest grossing movie of all time.

You may want to check again; Avatar is the highest followed by Avengers: Endgame.

    • Jay says:

It beat Avatar in the domestic BO, but not globally.

    • lucas says:

this is so stupid I want the Lego avatar set out of here and you should’ve have coped Netflix’s show of avatar and I want Lego avatar removed Right Now !!!!! and change it into the new Lego Indiana Jones sets but get rid of the Lego avatar because this is stupid and if you don’t remove the Lego avatar I will put this site a 1 Star Rate

  8. Wim Goris says:

I can’t wait ! Glow in the dark elements sprinkled well throughout to make the sets come alive is what I’m hoping for too…

I’m very excited if this is true. Avatar in 3D is still the best movie in my eyes I’ve ever seen…

    • Jay says:

Huge yes to glow in the dark elements, maybe in different colours!

I agree, the cinematic experience was so ahead of its time.

  9. Aw man, I got excited by the title and thought Avatar: The Last Airbender theme was being revived.

    • David says:

      I know, right?! 🙁

    • Jay says:

In LEGO’s endless quest to collect all the licenses, I’m surprised they have nothing inked with Nickelodeon. The Last Airbender and Legend of Korra have absolutely massive/engaged fanbases.

Maybe when Netflix does their Live Action version… which I am not looking forward to.

  10. Mrs.bunny says:

I don’t think i will like this because the avatar movie is kinda dumb but if they make that one star wars guy that was rumoured to be a minidoll i would buy that if it was confirmed.

  11. aaron says:

I want to see some tensegrity floating island villages!
