LEGO Back to the Future Delorean sold out worldwide

Barely a day after launch, the highly anticipated 10300 Back to the Future Time Machine has temporarily sold out worldwide.

Demand for the set far exceeded supply, with reports on Reddit, and social media suggesting that large queues formed outside LEGO Stores by fans eager to get their hands on the LEGO Creator Expert Delorean.

I’m not sure if it’s a good thing, but the set is somehow still available to order on LEGO.com in Australia and NZ, the only LEGO.com region in the world that you can currently pick one up. I wouldn’t hesitate if I were you, as we won’t know when restocks will occur.

Update: now sold out in Australia too!

LEGO Delorean stock availability status:

Almost predictably, resellers have been quick to capitalise on the LEGO Delorean’s popularity, with sets going for US$240 and above on eBay (a premium of about 40% above RRP), which is disappointing as usual.

With the set going out of stock almost immediately, you can bet that prices on the secondary market will continue to remain high, and that scalpers/opportunists will continue to take advantage of the initial low supply, until the next restock cycle.

You can always turn on Back in Stock notifications on LEGO.com if you missed out, but I would encourage not feeding the scalpers unless you absolutely have to the LEGO Back to the Future Delorean will restock (hopefully) soon.

It’s great to see LEGO have another Creator Expert hit, and hope this shows LEGO that there is huge demand for highly detailed pop-culture vehicles that ALSO contain minifigures.

It’s available in the uk stores and only temporarily out of stock on the website

  2. Hans Luc says:

it’s only june and already sold out for good. Doesn’t even say temporarily sold out. Just Sold out with no option to email you when it’s back in stock. That is crazy if Lego stopped making it only a few months after launch!

    • Jay says:

No, it’s definitely coming back in stock – just keep checking in, or subscribe to my emails as I’ll try to update when it restocks.

  3. Ruby says:

If lego just limited it to just 1per person not 3 to start with may be it would not have sold out so quick

  4. John Godwin says:

I bought mine online first thing Friday morning but was in the Lego store in Liverpool the day after and they had well over 50 sets on the shelf.

  5. Thomas R says:

Ordered this on Friday as soon as I saw it in a marketing email from LEGO. It’s out of stock on the Australian LEGO store now too.
Huge BTTF fan. could not click the buy button fast enough.

  6. gregory ferko says:

I want this set but I will not pay those asshole scalpers and crooks to get it right now. I can wait. Waited how long for it I can wait more.

  7. Dug says:

Talking about Aus here, I saw one sold for $349 free postage on ebay.

    350 x 0.86 = 301.
    301 – 270 = 31,
31 – postage(?) = not much profit except the GWP and $17.50 of VIP points…

Doesnt look like scalping to me.

    • Milk says:

You made $30 for doing nothing and made someone else pay $80 more for a thing then they should have, that’s scalping, just because you’re not very good at it doesn’t mean it’s not what it is and you’re any less of a piece of shit for doing…

  8. Hugh says:

Most of the important sets sell out quickly upon release but they come back into stock relatively quickly. It isn’t a limited edition so no need to be concerned it won’t be available again. It will be in stock again at RRP in a few weeks, and at a discount in a few months, so anyone who pays a premium on ebay now rather deserves to be ripped off. Just be patient and wait. I only buy sets at release if they have an exclusive GWP, like Luke’s Lightsabre with the AT-AT. That GWP alone sells for c. £150 so worth buying the AT-AT at full price to acquire.

  9. Ssss says:

I got one, but for myself of course.

  10. JC_AU says:

And its now sold out here in AU as well

  11. Monty says:

The power of FOMO never ceases to astound me, I don’t really understand the benefit of it. I’m more than happy for this to hit retail in a few months and then pick it up.
