LEGO BTS Dynamite set sells out in record time, and scalpers are making bank

In perhaps the least surprising news today, it took almost no time for the LEGO BTS Dynamite set to sell out in record time in North America.

Following the launch of all the new LEGO’s March 2023 sets which included the highly anticipated 21339 BTS Dynamite, it took less than 30 minutes from the product page going up (which had some issues initially) for the set to go on backorder.

It’s still available to order in the UK, Europe and funnily enough in South Korea.

Despite a purchase limit of 1, the North American BTS Army showed up in full force to back their favourite KPOP sensations.

Right now, the backorder time has slipped to 60 days, and for fans that missed out, don’t dismay as LEGO will continue to keep restocking the set, over and over again.

It will just be a bit of a wait OR you could try your luck at your nearest LEGO Store.

Despite not being particularly targeted at seasoned LEGO fans (read my review), the LEGO Idea set which features minifigure renditions of BTS bandmembers J-Hope, Jimin, Jin, RM, Jung Kook, Suga and V proved to be incredibly popular, at least in North America.

Predictably, scalers and resellers are having a field day with this. As you can see from these sold listings (so yes, someone has paid for it), the set is already fetching up to double its RRP of US$99.99 on eBay, and I guess once store stock runs out, I can see this trend continuing until the next restock.

Stay classy, LEGO Entrepreneurs.

This has to be one of the least surprising things, given the passion and zeal from the BTS Army, and I hope that actual BTS fans were actually able to get their hands on the set.

In case you missed it, check out all the March 2023 LEGO releases to see what else LEGO dropped today.

I get that this can be frustrating, but please don’t be tempted to get it from scalpers at an outrageous price.
This is not a limited set, and it will come back in stock at LEGO.

What Oliver said ! 🙂 “please sir, may we have some more?”
Lego Co. – ” more?? , you want more?” >< 😉 lego I making me poor cause I don't sphinx I will ever want to sell mine.

So if we buy this set in Europe and have it sold to the USA we could be making a nice profit?

I won’t do that, and I don’t know what this BST is. Never heard of it until now. Not interested in het set either. Seems like a stupid set imo.

Hope the people who buy with the intent to sell get their faces burnt. They’re spoiling the game for true fans.

  4. Oliver says:

One day after release it’s still available here in Germany with a limit of 3 sets you can order.
This is probably not that surprising given the many user comments in the various German LEGO fan sites, asking what BTS is.
But you’re right: it’s curious that the set was (is?) still available in South Korea. Just a guess, but is it possible that LEGO’s market penetration is just not that huge in East Asia overall as it is in the US and Western Europe? Maybe there are a lot of BTS fans there who missed this altogether?

Could also be they increased their stocks there, anticipating high demand. Without knowing how many are in warehouses/stores, a set selling out only indicates low supply, it doesn’t necessarily say anything about how well it’s selling. Could be that there’s many times more available in South Korea precisely to avoid it selling out.

  7. Glen A says:

Still available on the AU site

    • Ripsnortr says:

It is time we let the scalpers choke on their purchases.
We need to stop empowering them by not buying anything from them.
