LEGO Technic Lamborghini and Fast & Furious sets coming soon
UPDATE: LEGO 42111 Dom’s Dodge Charger revealed! Check out more photos in the announcement post!
News is starting to trickle out of the Nuremberg Toy Fair, where LEGO is showing off their upcoming Summer slate to its retail partners.
Two announcements were made that will delight LEGO Automotive fans – with the first being official confirmation of a LEGO Fast & Furious Technic set, which has a release date of 27 April 2020, to coincide with the 9th Fast & Furious movie which premieres in May.
If you’re anything like me, a brick-built LEGO bust of Dominic Torreto (played by Vin Diesel) would’ve been THE obvious choice, but unfortunately, with the set being released under the Technic theme, we’re mostly likely getting a car.
It’s up to anyone’s guess what it’ll be, but I’ve got my money on one of Brian’s cars – perhaps a Skyline GT-R R34, or his Toyota Supra, although The Brick Fan reckons it’ll be the lime green Mitsubishi Eclipse.
More excitingly, LEGO also teased an upcoming Technic Lamborghini, which will join the Porsche 911 GT3 RS and the Bugatti Chiron as the next Technic supercar.
It’ll be a 1:8 scale set, and will be available in Summer 2020 (Winter in Australia).
It’s unknown which model it’ll be, and there are rumours that it could be the Sian, which happens to be Lamborghini’s first hybrid sportscar. Cool, but I would’ve rather have an Aventador.
That said, Lamborghini would be an amazing Technic model, thanks to its design language which makes great use of sleek, sharp lines as opposed to curves like the Bugatti Chiron.
I’m pretty excited for these two models, and can’t wait to see what the final models will look like!
