Meet the characters of LEGO DreamZzz before you stream the series online

For those who have been eagerly awaiting the debut of the new LEGO DreamZzz animated series, today is your day!

It’s now available to stream on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and will eventually make it way to Youtube where you’ll be able to stream the first 10 episodes of Season 1, which has 20 episodes in total.

LEGO have intentionally released the animated series first, ahead of the launch of the first wave of LEGO DreamZzz sets, which will be available from 1 August 2023 onwards.

I’ve had the opportunity to watch a couple of episodes and so far, it’s off to a great start. I might write a short review of my thoughts of season 1 after I’m done watching all 10 episodes, but I’m enjoying it so far!

To prepare you for the new series, here’s a quick guide to some of the main characters from the show!

LEGO DreamZzz is a new original theme and animation series from The LEGO Group, and features a fantastical storyline where several kids are thrust into the Dream World, and fight off nightmares with the power of imagination.

LEGO DreamZzz Main Characters

Here’s a look at some of the main characters in the series in their regular world forms. The series is led by Mateo, who along with his trusty sidekick that he imagined up in the dream world Z-Blob, is joined by his sister Izzie, and friends from school Cooper, Logan and Zoey. Mr. Oswald is their science teacher who also has a secret identity in the world of dreams.

In the Dream World, through the power of imagination, Dreamcrafting and a powerful magical hourglasses, our heroes transform into these powerful fantastical forms, where their powers are limited by their imagination.

Here’s some of our main characters:

Mateo & Z-Blob

Mateo is one of the most artistic kids you’ll ever meet… but too nervous to share his work! His life changes when he discovers an hourglass portal into the dream world. He’s the artistic one, always found sketching and drawing and is described as: creative, insecure and thoughtful.

The Mateo minifigure can be found in:

Izzie

Courageous and funny, Izzie doesn’t waste time thinking things through! Why not when you’ve got your gut and your love of anime to see you through?

Izzie is the fearless one, and is the heart and soul of the dream team, always upbeat, positive and never shies away from a challenge. She has a huge collection of plushies, of which Bunchu the Bunny is one that she Dreamcrafts. She’s described as fearless, impulsive and caring.

The Izzie minifigure can be found in:

Cooper

Tech-mad Cooper strives for perfection and doesn’t mind taking his time. He was Mateo’s best friend growing up, but they drifted apart once Coop became more popular. Will the dream world bring them closer?

In the opening episodes, Cooper is targeted by the Nightmare King, and his army of Grimspawn, which immobilises him until he’s rescued by his friends. He’s into cars and vehicles, and is described as driven, thorough and an engineer.

The Cooper minifigure can be found in:

Logan

Popular, competitive and brave (sometimes accidentally!), Logan is Cooper’s new best friend. Look through his confident exterior and you might just see that Logan’s the most easily scared of the group.

Logan is the stereotypical “jock” of the group, and Cooper is drawn to him because he’s popular and exuberant at school. He’s described as confident, popular and sporty.

Logan can be found in:

Zoey

Zoey works alone… or at least that’s what she tells people. In the dream world, she teams up with Zian (the big green owl-like creature) to battle the fearsome Nightmare Army. But she’s DEFINITELY NOT PART OF THE TEAM. Just to be clear.

She’s described as mysterious, smart and sarcrastic and Zoey can be found in:

Mr. Oswald

If there’s anyone who has more on their plate than Mr. Oz, we’d like to meet them! By day, the kids’ obsessive science teacher, by night the only Dream Chaser left in New York. Wait… does he ever sleep?!

As the elder mentor of our young Dream Chasers, Mr. Oz is a great nod towards older AFOLs, thanks to his experience as part of the Night Bureau, enthusiasm, and of course, Classic Space jumper he wears beneath his coat.

He’ll only be found in one set so far:

LEGO DreamZzz villains

It’s not all candy canes and marshmallows in the Dream World, as our heroic Dream Chasers must also contend against the Nightmare King and his legions of Grimspawn.

He’s on a quest to seize the powers of the Dream Chasers, and capture dreamers from all over the world, ensnaring them with Grimkeepers – these towering prison horrors, or terrorising them in their sleep with Grimspawn – tiny expendable minions that provide some comic relief. He’s aided by the Night Hunter

The Nightmare King

The terrifying ruler of the Grim Realm is desperate to extend his Nightmare empire by corrupting all the Dream Realms and every creature in them. So yeah, basically an all-round bad guy. F minus. 0/10.

The Nightmare King is described as Evil, Cunning and Cruel and can be found in the following sets:

Night Hunter

The Nightmare King’s second-in-command. An expert hunter, the Night Hunter corrupts dream creatures with enchanted Shadow Bolt arrows. Gulp.

The Night Hunter can be found in the following sets:

And that’s it for the characters from LEGO Dreamzzz! You’ll be able to watch the first 10 episodes of LEGO DreamZzz on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Youtube, ahead of the launch of LEGO DreamZzz sets in August 2023.
