Reminder: LEGO Advent Calendar 2021 countdowns

November 30, 2021 By Jay Ong 13 Comments

Can you believe that it’s almost December? Where has the year gone!

The start of December marks one of the most exciting times of the year for the blog – Advent Calendar season, where I’ll be opening the windows, and documenting (in real time!) 4 LEGO Advent Calendars this year – Star Wars, Marvel Avengers, Harry Potter and Friends!

You can check out each countdown here

  • 2021 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar
  • 2021 LEGO Marvel Avengers Advent Calendar
  • 2021 LEGO Harry Potter Advent Calendar
  • 2021 LEGO Friends Advent Calendar

This has been one of the longest running traditions on the blog, dating back to the 2014 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar, and ever since then, I’ve been counting down the Advent Calendars days with thousands of LEGO fans from all over the world.

To relive some of the fun from previous years, check out:

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar Countdowns:  2014, 2015. 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 or 2020 calendars if you’d like a trip down memory lane.

Since then, I’ve also included the Harry Potter Advent Calendars into my repertoire, since their debut in 2019. Whip out your time turner, and check out 2019 and 2020’s Harry Potter Advent Calendar

2021 will be the BIGGEST LEGO Advent Calendar countdown yet, with not one, not two, not even three but FOUR LEGO Advent Calendars, so stay tuned as we count down Star Wars, Harry Potter, Marvel Avengers and Friends together!

How will it work?

If you’re new here, I do daily updates on each window of the Advent Calendars. I usually post updates in the morning, but sometimes if I get too busy at work, updates will be posted in the evening. I’ll update this post each day, as I don’t really enjoy the practice of creating new posts for each day as it keeps it so much cleaner.

Unlike other sites, I’m actually opening each window as I go, and I’ve been able to be relatively spoiler-free to be as surprised as I can get. All reviews, thoughts and reactions are live as we go along, there are no pre-planned photos or thoughts, unless I happen to be travelling or away from home.

Do note that I’m based in Melbourne, Australia (GMT +11) so we’re ahead of most of the world (except New Zealand) so to avoid spoilers, try to come back to this post after you’ve opened your window and built the daily model especially if you’re located in other timezones like the US or UK.

To be the first to know when the Advent Calendar posts go up, be sure to stay subscribed, or follow on social media.

Can’t wait for tomorrow!

Let me know in the comments which Advent Calendars will you be opening tomorrow!

    Hi!
    Love the blog!
Question : in the City Advent Calendar day 4 there is some sort of vehicle – not sure what it is meant to be … but what’s the piece from that sits on the clip at the rear? ( Don’t think I can add a photo here !)
    Thanks

Advent season begins!! I’ve got my third year of HP advent (courtesy of my bff) as it was the large Hogwarts castle that got me back into Legos as an adult!! Really trying to use them for seasonal displays and the advent articles will help; this year will be Hogsmead with Santa’s sleigh and various decorations. Might watch some of the other advents for vicarious thrills 😉

For the past several years, I have done the Star Wars calendar along side this post and the same will continue on.

Last year I started something new…I have my set and the grandchildren follow along with their own set.

This year I will have my Star Wars, my grandson will have the Marvel one, and My granddaughter will have her Lego Friends.

As this year we will not be in the same house (or state even), due to military assignments, we will be coordinating our efforts through daily photos and text messages.

    Hi Jay,
We’re looking forward to spending the next month with you. We’ve been checking in since some of the Star Wars builds left us scratching our heads as to what they were supposed to be, several years ago.
We’ll be doing Star Wars and The Avengers.
Interesting to see that City has been dropped.
    Cheers
    Roger and Andrew

Marvel and Star Wars for me.
Fun time of year when it’s like the extended lego family talks about the contents of each window.
Looking forward to your reviews as usual and solving the mystery ones that appear every year.

The Star Wars calendar reveal is the highlight of my year! and the way I found your amazing Blog, Jay.

I’m pretty savvy with Star Wars, but occasionally I have no idea what the build is (The Freemaker adventure builds from 2018 were a complete mystery to me) so I love reading your daily posts on the builds.

Glad you’re giving the Friends one more try. Like you, my Daughter (who is a massive Friends fan) was underwhelmed with the 2020 calendar and all of it’s workbench builds. This year’s looks a lot more exciting, especially with the child minidolls on the outside of the box.

My Daughter is currently building the Santa’s Visit set with me, so I’m sure the builds from the calendar will find their way into the display we’re setting up…

Yes, I have my Star Wars Advent Calendar waiting! 🙂

I’m only doing the one this year, after a couple of years doubling up SW with Harry Potter, as I’d was in great danger of going up to three this year; and who knows, four or five or six in years to come?

So, I’ll be opening my Star Wars windows each morning until Christmas, just as I’ve done for the previous ten years, and live vicariously through your posts with regard to Harry Potter and Marvel, and try not to regret not splashing out.

I hope your Friends calendar is better for you this year, I remember 2020 being rather underwhelming.

LEGO have revealed a whole bunch of Marvel and DC LEGO have revealed a whole bunch of Marvel and DC Comics sets including the highly anticipated 76261 Spider-Man Final Battle featuring all 3 Spider-Man from No Way Home!

Got a chance to see a preliminary model of 76261 a few months ago, and while the minifigure lineup is impressive, the model is absolutely tiny.

Venomised Groot is super cute, and the Batwing is an absolute winner at this scale and price.

This is LEGO 40364 Icons of Play, a set celebratin This is LEGO 40364 Icons of Play, a set celebrating some of the most accomplished female football players.

It features minifigures of @samanthakerr20, @mrapinoe, @yuki_nagasato and @asisat_oshoala, and is set to be released on 6 June 2023!

I read some extremely disgusting misogynistic comments on this set, from the usual terminally-online, incel-esque dudebros who probably need to get out a little.

Women's football is on the up and up, with exponential growth in game attendance, and TV viewership, and this is really smart timing on LEGO's part, releasing this just before the FIFA Women's World Cup starts.

Women's football has massive grassroots support, and is a hugely popular sport for young girls, the very builders of tomorrow that LEGO is continually trying to inspire.

LEGO is even a sponsor of the Australian national women's team @thematildas!

It's not even a bad set, and will integrate nicely into LEGO City, with clear references to the popular Football theme from the early 2000s.

Still, it's very disappointing (but not surprising) to see large LEGO pages continue to encourage and not take a stronger stance against sexism and misogyny.

Do better with your influence and reach.
