Is there a LEGO Marvel Collectible Minifigures Series coming?

UPDATE: It’s confirmed – here your first look at the LEGO Marvel Minifigures series!

A ton of rumours are flying around the internet of LEGO’s Second Half releases, but one in particular stood out to me – that we may be getting a LEGO Marvel Collectible Minifigures series in August 2021.

And yes, it’s only January and LEGO Minifigures Series 21 still isn’t widely available yet.

This is particularly notable because LEGO has never worked with Marvel on a Collectible Minifigure series.

We’ve had a full DC Comics Series last year, and two LEGO Batman Movie series in 2018 and 2017 which has been great in introducing fan favourites like Super-man, Batman, but also niche characters like Calculator, and Eraser to the mix.

Marvel is on a whole other level, thanks to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for raising the bar when it comes to their stable of characters.

Disney have a really vast library of characters to tap for this series, if this is actually happening, LEGO will be spoilt for choice. Do they go big-name MCU characters, explore the X-Men/Inhumans, or go with popular fan-favourite characters that are not part of the MCU such as Hercules or Namor?

LEGO and Marvel’s partnership has largely revolved around cinematic releases, so what I think is likely is that we’ll see characters and minifigures from Disney’s upcoming slate of streaming TV series, given that they won’t have the same marketing arsenal attached to them as cinematic releases.

Remember, this is still a very, very fresh rumour so take this with a pinch of salt and it may not happen. Remember the rumoured Star Wars Collectible Minifigures series that was supposed to come this year?

Anyway, that’s it for now, and just wanted to share this and strike up a discussion.

Who would you like to see featured in a LEGO Marvel minifigure series?

For me, hands down it’d be a Daredevil minifigure. It’s about damn time, LEGO!

  1. If a marvek minfig series is coming, I personally don’t want it to be based off the disney plus series. I’d rather them dive into Marvel’s history, like lego did with the dc series

I guess The Punisher would have been off-limits even before he started to become appropriated by the alt-right, but there’s a wide roster of obscure characters. Considering the Lego Batman Movie and DC CMF contained characters such as Clock King, Eraser and Condiment King, there could hopefully be room for fairly obscure characters such as Warlock, Beyonder, Machine Man and Mephisto…

    • Jay says:

I’m in the same boat, but it’ll be a great way to cross-promote the shows. I do like Wandavision so far, and there’s plenty of side characters they’re bringing back, and reimagining, so I think we’ll get a happy medium. Maybe if that does well, it’ll give the confidence to explore the Comics/History.

  2. Håkan says:

Hmm, this might be interesting. Some personal favorites include:

    Kitty Pryde
    Spot (Spider-Man villain)
    60’s Gwen Stacy
    Red Daredevil
    White Rabbit (Spider-Man villain)
    Black Cat
    Squirrel Girl
    Puck
    Daimon Hellstrom
    Tinkerer (Spider-Man villain)
    Rocket Racer (Spider-Man villain)

    • Jay says:

Oh Kitty Pryde would be so great, I almost forgot about her! In fact, we’re sorely missing X-Men. Here’s hoping that Disney has something special in the works..

  3. Caroline says:

Deadpool! it would make my son so happy!

    • Jay says:

There’s a new movie in the works, and he’s officially joining the MCU, so hopefully it’ll be sooner rather than later!

      • Håkan says:

Hmm, there was an old Deadpool figure in an old Wolverine set, although it’s generally rather pricy on the collectors’ market, by now. There are also several knockoffs and third party customs, if you’re willing to go that way. (Myself, I bought a custom black Spider-Man head for an old Venom torso instead of paying up for a limited SDCC Black Spider-Man. Don’t worry, I won’t try to sell it off as the real thing.)

There were rumors that it would never appear another widely released Deadpool figure to the series’ frequent depictions of gleeful sex and violence, but then, the rather similar DC character Lobo appeared in a Superman set relatively recently, so I guess it isn’t impossible…

        • Jay says:

That’s true, but with Ryan Reynold’s Deadpool in the works by Disney within the MCU, and it being a perennially popular character, Disney/LEGO would be silly not to capitalise on the massive demand for more Deadpool.

  4. I want Moon Knight and all of the Winter Guard

  5. Caleb says:

I’m hoping for an X-Men series.

  6. Warren says:

I am predicting this now, since Lego loves to use their endless supply of roller skates. I predict one of the will be the 1970s version of The Dazzler.

    • Jay says:

I wasn’t familiar with The Dazzler and had to look her up, but oh boy, yes 100%.

Even better if they use the sparkly material for the skates!

  7. Peter K says:

    Silver Surfer
    Jean Grey
    Namor
    Deadpool
    Cyclops
    Nightcrawler
    Beast
    Xavier

  8. LL says:

All I want is another Deadpool. Or Howard the Duck

  9. Andy says:

    Fantastic Four!

  10. H says:

I would bet this series is more focus on MCU’s new coming TV series characters.
