Top 10 new January 2021 LEGO sets I’ll be adding to my collection!
It’s the 1st of January – which means that a whole bunch of new 2021 LEGO sets are now available on LEGO.com.
For a brief rundown, check out the 2021 H1 Catalogue post for an idea of what’s coming.
It can be a little overwhelming, what with over 100 different sets being set upon our poor, poor wallets, so here’s my pick of 10 LEGO sets that I personally think are the most interesting out of the entire January 2021 release wave in no particular order.
10278 Modular Police Station
This one is a no-brainer, but for many seasoned LEGO fans, it’s almost customary to celebrate the New Year by ordering the new Creator Expert Modular Building – this year’s edition, the Police Station is a joy to assemble, and is a nod to the iconic LEGO Police Stations of old, now all grown-up and sophisticated.
Read my review of 10278 Police Station for an in-depth look at the set.
- LEGO 10278 Police Station [US] – US$199.99
- LEGO 10278 Police Station [AUS] – AU$299.99
- LEGO 10278 Police Station [UK] – £169.99
- LEGO 10278 Police Station [EU] – €179.99

LEGO Botanical Collection (10280 Flower Bouquet / 10281 Bonsai Tree)
If you’re after something classier, and a bit more zen, and if you’re the type of person that murders house plants, LEGO’s Botanical Collection is for you.
The 10281 Bonsai Tree and 10280 Flower Bouquet are two cost-effective sets that present you with a slightly different build and display experience
2021 Chinese New Year Sets
If you’re lucky enough to live in Asia Pacific (that includes Australia), the two new Chinese New Year 2021 sets – 80106 Story of Nian and 80107 Spring Lantern Festival are now available online!
I’ve reviewed the Spring Lantern Festival, giving it a rare 5/5 perfect score for its incredible design, landscaping, architecture, and wide array of printed elements. Look out for a Story of Nian review in the coming days!
For the rest of the world, these two sets will be available from 10 January 2021 onwards from LEGO.com.
LEGO Minifigures Series 21
LEGO Minifigures Series 21 will also go on sale from the 1st onwards, which means you can go on a hunt again for all 12 new minifigures!
I’m currently finishing my Series 21 review, so look out for it soon! This is one of my favourite Series yet, and I think the new 12-character collection allows for much stronger characters, and you won’t be disappointed in them.
60291 Family House
Someone in the LEGO City team have finally heard our complaints about the repetitive Police, Fire cycle that seems to dominate LEGO City, so in 2021, they’ve gone back to their roots with a focus on residential and commercial structures.
No crime in sight, which is a nice breath of fresh air!
I really like the look of the look of 60291 Family House, which has a modern house design, lots of clean energy inclusions like an electric car, and an adorable new LEGO Labrador.
75299 Trouble on Tatooine
It goes without saying that The Mandalorian is solely responsible for a Star Wars renaissance, and if you’re like me, you probably can’t wait to add 75299 Trouble on Tatooine to your cart, for that sweet new Mando minifigure in Beskar, as well as the most affordable way to get a Grogu babyfigure.
Harry Potter Moments Collection
LEGO Harry Potter fans are going to love these new Harry Potter Moments books, which open up to feature a buildable scene.
There are four books available, each based on a specific house/class, and includes the heads of each house who also teach those classes.
Choose from Hufflepuff (Herbology), Ravenclaw (Charms), Slytherin (Potions) and Gryffindor (Transfiguration).
New LEGO Super Mario
Have you been enjoying the new Miles Morales Spider-Man game? Well if you have, or are a massive fan of Into the Spiderverse, this Miles Morales Mech, with a cool new hooded Miles minifigure is a great pickup. Not too sure about the mech, but the minifigure is really neat. Ending on a cute note, don’t forget that this cuddly trio of Chinese New Year Panda Brickheadz are uber-cute! Brickheadz seems to have settled into Seasonal releases, which I don’t mind, and these Pandas are just so cute. I have my set in hand, and I hope to do a quick review soon! Thanks for reading! Don’t forget that apart from these sets, Ninjago City Gardens is also set for a release mid-January, so make sure you save up for that if you can! Did you pick any of the new January 2021 releases up today? Let me know what you managed to get in the comments!40466 Chinese New Year Panda Brickheadz
