LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2023 Daily Countdown

Hello there (General Kenobi) and welcome back to the Jay’s Brick Blog Daily daily countdown of the 2032 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar!

This is the big one, and counting down LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendars has been a long-time tradition on the blog, dating back to 2014! This is something I look forward to each year, and I just love the sense of community around counting down the days till Christmas!

If you’d like to check out previous Star Wars Advent calendars, here are the links to 2014, 2015. 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022 calendars if you’d like a trip down memory lane.

This year, I’ll be counting down all 5 LEGO Advent Calendars – Star Wars, Harry Potter, Friends, City and Marvel.

You can check out each countdown here

To make it easier for you to check out each day’s section, as this post is going to grow longer with every new window, all you have to do is click on the Day you want, and you will instantly jump to the corresponding section.

How does the daily advent calendar countdown work?

If you’re new here, I post daily updates on each window of the 2023 Star Wars Advent Calendar. I usually post updates in the morning, but sometimes if things get too busy, updates will be posted in the evening. I’ll update this post each day, as I don’t really enjoy the practice of creating new posts for each day as it keeps it so much cleaner, so bookmark this post to come back every day!

Unlike other sites, I’m actually opening each window as I go, and I’ve been able to be relatively spoiler-free to be as surprised as I can get. All reviews, thoughts and reactions are live as we go along, there are no pre-planned photos or thoughts, unless I happen to be travelling or away from home.

Do note that I’m based in Melbourne, Australia (GMT +11) so we’re ahead of most of the world (except New Zealand) so to avoid spoilers, try to come back to this post after you’ve opened your window and built the daily model especially if you’re located in other time zones.

To follow along, it’s best to bookmark this post to check back each day. You can also find a link to this post from the home page via a link in the top navigation bar. If you’re on mobile, you have to expand the burger menu (the button with the 3 lines) to find it.

Here’s a look at the 2023 Star Wars Advent Calendar with the front flap opened that serves as a playmat to display all the models and minifigures.

It looks to be an Endor-themed year, with an Ewok Village in the background, and a Shield Generator lit up by Christmas lights. It makes sense as Return of the Jedi celebrates its 40th anniversary this year!

You count upwards from 1 to 24, so don’t make the mistake of going backwards!

As always, the instructions are found on the inside of each window flap, so be gentle when opening them as you’ll need to sometimes refer to them for slightly more complicated builds!

Without wasting any time, let’s get started with the 2023 Star Wars Advent Calendar countdown!

Day 1

We start of Day 1 with a very peculiar character, Omega from Star Wars: The Bad Batch, a Disney+ animated series that’s a spin-off of the Clone Wars. It’s a very unorthodox minifigure to get on Day One, as Omega might not be completely familiar to casual Star Wars fans, especially those that don’t religiously follow the series.

Omega is an unmodified enhanced clone of Jango Fett, and you can learn more about her on Wookiepedia.

For fans of The Bad Batch, Omega is an excellent character to get, as this minifigure was previously only available in 75323 The Justifier, a pretty large and expensive set, so this is a fantastic way to get your hands on an Omega minifigure if she’s on your list.

Here’s a look at Omega’s back printing, and alternate face which has a cautious, angry expression.

To suit the snowy theme of the Advent Calendar, she also comes with a brick-built. This is quite new as LEGO doesn’t usually include builds with minifigures in Advent Calendars, so to get a substantial build like this sled is quite a unique experience.

It’s a bit of fun and gives something for Omega to sit in, and establishes that this will hopefully be a fun Advent Calendar that doesn’t take itself so easily.

That’s it for Day 1! Check back tomorrow to see what we get for Day 2 of the 2023 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar!

Day 2

On Day 2 we get a micro ship – The Justifier, a Starship owned by infamous Bounty Hunter Cad Bane. The shape of the ship looks a little odd, and it wasn’t until I attached the large tail and the upturned wings that I realised what it was, so this might confuse those that aren’t mega Star Wars fans.

The silhouette is pretty good, and the large tail, and manta-ray shape does its signature silhouette justice.

The instructions are quite poor, so I’ve included these two build-in-progress shots to illustrate just how the ship is built – hope this helps if you get stuck!

It’s based on the larger 75323 The Justifier set, which also included the Omega minifigure, so this is quite fitting.

And that’s it for Day 2 so far! A very fitting build to go with Day 1’s Omega, and I can’t wait to see what we get in Day 3! Hopefully something immediately recognisable, especially for casual Star Wars fans!

Day 3

It looks like we’re moving on from The Bad Batch, and moving on to The Mandalorian. Day 3 of the 2023 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar gives us another excellent build – The Mandalorian’s N-1 Starfighter, a repurposed Naboo N-1 Starfighter that Din Djarin uses after his Razor Crest gets destroyed.

This is the first time the Mandalorian’s N-1 Starfighter has made an appearance in an Advent Calendar, although we did get a Naboo Starfighter in 2018.

This model captures the N-1 Starfighter’s features, silhouette and proportions well, and I like the details like the cockpit and raised dome (where Grogu sits) as well as pops of yellow.

Here’s a look at the N-1 Starfighter from the back – the trans-blue studs used for the engines are also a nice touch.

There are currently two LEGO N-1 Starfighters you can get, a Microfighter version, a minifigure-scale version and now you can add this micro version to the collection as well!

And that’s it for Day 3 so far! Check in tomorrow to see what Day 4 brings!

Day 4

Day 4 of the 2023 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar is a bit of a fun and festive build, with a Christmas Pit Droid! Pit Droids are handy mechanical droids, first seen in The Phantom Menace, but also in The Mandalorian, who assist Peli Motto to put together Din Djarin’s N-1 Starfighter.

The build is quite clever, as the Pit Droid is assembled out of a mishmash or regular parts, and it also has a Santa Sack to complete the look.

To jog your memory, here’s what they look like in The Mandalorian.

And that’s it for Day 4! It’s nice to get a festive Christmas-themed build so early, and especially nice that it’s a festive variant of the adorable Pit Droids.

Check in tomorrow to see what we get for Day 5!

Day 5

Day 5 of the 2023 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar will make a lot of Prequel Fans really happy as we get a Clone Turbo Tank!

It’s a catchier name than HAVw A6 Juggernaut, and these heavy-duty tanks were primarily used as troop transports during the Clone Wars, and were best known for rumbling about the Battlefield over its 10 wheels.

The model is basic but instantly recognisable and I do like that this micro-scale design captured the sloping sections of the tank and even the turrets.

LEGO last released a Clone Turbo Tank way back in 2016, and with the Prequels undergoing a bit of a renaissance, I think it’s high time we get a modernised version. Maybe this model is a clue of things to come in 2024?

That’s it for Day 5 of the 2023 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar! We’re off to a pretty strong start with 5 great builds each day, and I can’t wait to see what we get tomorrow in Day 6!

Day 6

On Day 6 of the 2023 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar, we receive our 2nd minifigure – a 212th Battalion Clone Trooper. The 212th Battalion famously wore Clone Armour with orange markings, and served under General Obi Wan Kenobi, and were led by Commander Cody.

Clone Troopers are especially popular among Prequel fans, and this one made its debut in 75337 AT-TE Walker and is quite valuable on the secondary market, selling for US$8-10, making this great value to get in this advent calendar.

Here’s a look at the 212th Clone’s back printing and standard clone face (the Clones are all copies of Bounty Hunter Jango Fett).

And that’s it for Day 6! A very good minifigure to get, as it was previously only available in a fairly expensive LEGO Star Wars set, and in a Magazine only available in the UK/Europe.

The 2023 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar continues to impress. Check back tomorrow to see what we get in Day 7!

Day 7

On Day 7 of the 2023 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar, we get a peculiar-looking build that might trip people up. It’s a Clone Command Station, a miniaturised version of Command Stations which are manned by Commanders!

No this isn’t a Weapons Rack, but it would’ve been nice if it had some weaponry attached to it!

Here’s how it looks from behind.

The set is actually based on 40558 Clone Trooper Command Station which recently retired.

It’s not the most exciting build, but it’s somewhere for the 212th Clone Trooper to occupy and interact with, so it has some utility to it, but yes, it does seem very Weapons Rack-esque with the design. If only it could holster some blasters or pistols!

If you were stuck today, I hope this helped demystify what Day 7’s build is!

Check back to see what we get in Day 8 tomorrow1

Day 8

On Day 8 we get a staple of LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendars, the ubiquitous B1 Battle Droid, bumbling and disposable droid grunts employed by the Trade Federation’s Droid Army.

They provide comic relief, and are purely used as cannon fodder to overwhelm the Republic with sheer numbers.

The Battle Droid comes with a blaster, as well as 2 sets of arms. The arms have slightly different orientations, with the hands in different positions, as well as one being on an angle, so you can switch up the look, as well as use the different hand options to change how they hold objects.

That’s it for Day 8 so far! Pretty standard to get Battle Droids, so this was inevitable, and on the plus side, we get our first “bad guy” minifigure for the 212th Clone Trooper to use as target practice.

Check back tomorrow to see what we get on Day 9!

Day 9

On Day 9 we get a STAP Speeder, an upright speeder designed for the B1 Battle Droid to ride! STAP stands for Single Troop Aerial Platform and is typically piloted by a single Battle Droid for reconnaissance and patrol uses.

The build is slightly flimsy, so you can easily knock the top off, but for the most part, it’s something quite different and I do like that most of the minifigures in the 2023 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar seem to have a companion build for them to ride on, or sit in.

Here’s what the Battle Droid looks like riding the STAP. It might help to use both the same types of arms so it can properly hold on to the STAP’s handles.

That’s it for Day 9! Check back tomorrow to see what we get on Day 10!

Day 10

The love for the Clone Wars era continues with Day 10 of the 2023 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar as we get a Hailfire-class Tank Droid!

The Hailfire Tank Droid is probably one of the most innovative and striking Droid Tanks employed during the Clone Wars, with the large whirling treaded wheels rumbling on an angle. The design of this micro-model captures the unique look well, with the wheels bent at an angle, as well as the two large missile launchers mounted on the sides.

This is such a cool design and the LEGO Star Wars Design Team really nailed the look here, from the colours to the clever build and use of elements.

LEGO have produced several versions of the Hailfire Droid, from the first one with 4481 Hailfire Droid 20 years ago in 2003, to 2008’s Hailfire Droid & Spider Droid to the most recent outing with 75085 Hailfire Droid in 2015.

LEGO has a track record of teasing future sets in Advent Calendars, so I think an update is more than overdue and I can’t wait to get a newly refreshed version.

That’s it for Day 10 so far. Prequel Fans will be delighted with the Hailfire Tank Droid and I too am a big fan of the design. It’s a big plus that it isn’t yet another grey ship or vehicle and so far, I have to say that I’m really enjoying this year’s Star Wars Advent Calendar!

Check back tomorrow to see what we get in Day 11!

Day 11

On Day 11 of the 2023 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar, the Clone Wars microbuilds continue with another great build – an Armoured Assault Tank, or better known as an AAT! This AAT is in the Separatist Confederacy colours of blue and gray and looks great.

We did get an AAT on Day 1 of the 2014 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar, so this is a nice throwback and also demonstrates just how far the designs have come for Advent Calendar builds!

The design is much cleaner, with clearly-defined cannons, and I also like the ability of the AAT’s turret to swivel around.

The instructions on the flap of the Advent Calendar windows are a little lacking, so here’s a look at some of the individual components to give you a better idea of the orientation of bricks, and where some of the smaller elements should go.

And that’s it for Day 11 so far! We’re almost at the halfway mark, and miraculously, there hasn’t been a single Original Trilogy build or character yet, which is quite surprising!

Check back tomorrow to see what we get on Day 12!

Day 12

On Day 12 we get an excellent seasonal Winter build – a Reindeer Gonk Droid! Gonk Droids have become a staple in recent LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendars, and we’ve had previous ones dressed as Presents, Santa and more, so this is another fun Christmas-y variant!

The Reindeer Gonk Droid looks suitably blocky with their trademark legs, and utilises droid arms for its antlers, and has a cute little black button nose. You can of course switch this to a trans-red or red stud and make a Rudolph version should you choose!

Here’s a look at the Reindeer Gonk Droid from the back.

With recent Star Wars Advent Calendars, it’s always been a festive treat to build various seasonal Gonk Droids, and this one is very good and also cute! Very pleased with this one, as I’m sure other Gonk Droid afficionados will be too.

Come back tomorrow to see what we get on Day 13! Can’t believe we’re past the halfway mark already! Where did December go?!

Day 13

We enter the second half of the 2023 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar and it looks like we’re finally heading into the Original Trilogy. Day 13 gives us an Imperial Shuttle, or Lambda-class T-4a shuttle which is best known for ferrying Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine around.

The design is simple yet fantastic, with the long fin, and wings which can fold up or down. One technique I really like is the ability for the nose/cockpit that’s lowered at an angle.

Here’s a look at the Imperial Shuttle from other angles.

And that’s Day 13 so far! An excellent first foray into Original Trilogy ships, and I’m excited to see what we’ll get tomorrow. Come back and see what we get on Day 14!

Day 14

On Day 14 of the 2023 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar, we get our very first Original Trilogy minifigure with Princess Leia Organa in her Endor fatigues. She comes with a blaster pistol, as well as a delicious cookie!

This version of Leia in her Endor fatigues is technically exclusive as she has her hair up, but the torso has previously appeared in 75353 Endor Speeder Chase Diorama, where she has the helmet for the full Endor look.

Here’s a look at her back printing and her alternate face.

It’s great to get Princess Leia in a Star Wars Advent Calendar as she’s never appeared in one before, and it’s also refreshing that she’s the first Skywalker we get.

With 2023 being the 40th Anniversary of Return of the Jedi, this inclusion seems extremely fitting given that the Art on the Advent Calendar box heavily features a snowy, Christmasy Endor.

Check back tomorrow to see what we get on Day 15!

Day 15

On Day 15 of the 2023 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar, we continue with our foray into Endor with an adorable micro-scale Ewok Village!

I’d like to think this is a nod to the 10236 Ewok Village set. It’s been years since it retired, and I think it’s time for LEGO to bring back a decent Ewok Village diorama or playset.

It’s always a pleasure to get microscale locations and I’m quite pleased with Day 15’s Ewok Village, even if it does look quite rough around the edges and basic.

Check back tomorrow to see what we get on Day 16!

Day 16

The Endor and Return of the Jedi builds continue with Day 16 of the 2023 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar with a microscale Endor Bunker! The Endor Bunker featured in the pivotal scene of Return of the Jedi and Battle of Endor, as the Rebels (and Ewoks) stormed it to blow up the Shield Generator.

The shape is quite iconic and immediately recognisable, and is also a nod to 8038 The Battle of Endor from way back in 2009.

I’m enjoying the Return of the Jedi builds so far and I’m wondering if all we’re going to get till the end are ROTJ builds and characters – which I honestly wouldn’t mind. I do think it’s high time to get another minifigure as so far we’ve only gotten a Battle Droid, Omega, 212th Clone and Leia, so it feels like we’re due another minifigure.

Check back tomorrow to see what we get on Day 17!

Day 17

On Day 17 we get another Endor staple with a most excellent AT-ST model! We did get an AT-ST in last year’s Advent Calendar, so am surprised to see another one this year so soon, but I’m not complaining as it looks great!

I really like the inclusion of the base for it to pose on, which allows you to position it in a “walking pose”.

I also really appreciated the design of the head, which is near completely stud-less except for the hatch at the top. The angles are really nice to look at, and the mix of light and dark grey elements for contrast.

And that’s Day 17 so far! Can I say that it’s quite startling that we haven’t gotten a Weapons Rack yet? Has LEGO finally phased them out? Also that we haven’t really gotten a “bad” build yet. It’s been hit after hit after hit, although we are now way overdue for a minifigure.

Surely we’ll get a minifigure tomorrow! Check back to see what Day 18 brings us!

Day 18

On Day 18 of the 2023 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar we get another iconic Endor staple – a Speeder Bike! The design has underdone a bit of a transformation compared to previous entries with really long outriggers (the long things at the front), and curiously, the design lacks any steering vanes.

It’s nice shape, and is far longer than previous ones, but I feel like the lack of the steering vanes at the front is a slight missed opportunity. It’ll be hard to top the 2018 Advent Calendar version, that’s for sure!

That’s Day 18 so far! Still no minifigure! I guess this is LEGO saving all the sought-after minifigures for the back end of the calendar. Well we’re a week till Christmas, so they better get here soon!

Come back tomorrow to see what Day 19 brings us!

Day 19

We are now firmly in the home stretch of the 2023 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar and on Day 19, they’re still holding out on us with a minifigure! But don’t let that dissuade you from another excellent Endor microscale model – this time an Endor Shield Generator which is just an iconic structure that we see in Return of the Jedi.

The Rebels have one main objective in ROTJ to blow up the Shield Generator to make the Death Star II vulnerable, and this one is just fantastic with the large radar-like dish, and also some small trees to give the structure a sense of scale.

This design is so simple, yet so good.

And that’s it for Day 19! Still firmly in Endor/Return of the Jedi territory, and I don’t think we’re going to stray far from here until the end.

Can you believe it, only 5 days left and less than a week left till Christmas! Come back tomorrow to see what we get on Day 20!

Day 20

Our prayers for a minifigure finally get answered on Day 20 of the 2023 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar!

Christmas, or should I say, Sith-mas has come early thanks to Emperor Palpatine making a grand and festive entrance, complete with his very own ugly Christmas sweater!

It’s been a trend to get characters with ugly Christmas sweaters, and Palpy here is looking extra festive thanks to his red sweater which has the Death Star II and bolts of Sith Lightning knitted to it.

Here’s a look at his back print and alternate face.

The inclusion of a red mug and a singular Sith Lightning bolt are really nice accessories. Looks like the Emperor is all ready to shock you with his Christmas presence!

Very pleased to get our very first Seasonal Minifigure, and despite Emperor Palpatine’s minifigure being spoiled heavily by the packaging, it still doesn’t detract from a funny and seasonally-appropriate minifigure.

Only 4 more days remain for the 2023 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar! Check back tomorrow to see what we get on Day 21!

Day 21

The Emperor has a bad back, so for Day 21, he gets some much needed support in the form of the Emperor’s Throne! It’s a pretty basic build, but an an absolutely essential and complementary build to go along with yesterday’s excellent Emperor Palpatine.

It would’ve been quite funny if Palps’ comfy lounge chair was made out of festive Christmas colours! At least he can now kick back, enjoy his warm mug of cocoa and start zapping any upstart Jedi who dare challenge the Galactic Empire.

Come back tomorrow to see what we get on Day 22!

Day 22

On Day 22 of the 2023 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar, we an Imperial Star Destroyer, one of the most iconic capital ships of the Galactic Empire.

This pint-sized Star Destroyer scrores points for an accurate shaping, and I like some fun details like the use of a 2×1 plate for the bridge, but it feels so small and out of place compared to all the other ship builds that we’ve gotten so far.

Here’s the ships so far and it’s quite funny to see the Imperial Star Destroyer so tiny compared to the others. It’s extra ironic because the Imperial Star Destroyer is such a massive ship so the reverse scale here is funny.

It’s odd but this one feels rather disappointing compared to the other stellar builds we’ve gotten. I really wish that this was a larger Executor Super Star Destroyer instead, which would’ve been a great homage to Return of the Jedi.

Our first relative blip of the 2023 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar!

Only two days remain – check back tomorrow to see what we get on the penultimate window of the advent calendar!

Day 23

On Day 23, the penultimate window of the 2023 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar, we get an Ewok Glider! At this stage of the Advent Calendar, there’s usually not a lot of surprises left, given that this build (and the 24th) have been prominently spoiled on the packaging of the Advent Calendar!

We all probably know what comes next on Day 24, but be sure to come back one last time tomorrow for a wrap and summary of what I thought of the entire Advent Calendar!

Day 24

We’re at the final day of the 2023 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar and as expected, Day 24 gives us a Christmas Ewok! The all-white Ewok has a green cloak with a Christmas Tree stamped on it, which is a nice seasonal nod.

Here’s at a look at the Ewok’s back, and how it combines with yesterday’s Glider to swoop into your Chrisrmas Eve celebrations!

Overall, it’s a cute little seasonal exclusive and I do like that we get 2 seasonal characters in this Advent Calendar. The Christmas Ewok definitely fits the Return of the Jedi/Endor theme and is a nice little conclusion, even if it isn’t a big surprise as its spoiled pretty heavily on the box!

Final Thoughts

The LEGO Star Wars design team has delivered yet another memorable Advent Calendar with the 2023 version, and I do really appreciate the variety of eras captured, starting with the new Disney+ shows like Bad Batch, before taking a fun little detour through the Clone Wars and finally finishing off with an Endor extravaganza to commemorate Return of the Jedi’s 40th anniversary this year!

The builds have been mostly phenomenal – with interesting new ships and vehicles, especially from the Clone Wars. I feel like the designs have stepped up a notch, and this has been one of the best years for the microbuilds, save for some blips like the tiny Imperial Star Destroyer.

Unfortunately it looks like the Weapons Racks is no longer a staple of Advent Calendars, which is mostly a a good thing as there isn’t a “wasted slot”, but I do miss the novelty of the designs and how people just rued the days we got them!

While the microbuilds have been mostly great, I think the minifigure lineup is slightly disappointing. We only get 4 minifigures, plus an Ewok and Battle Droid, which feels on the low end of things, even if we do get two seasonal characters with Palpatine and the Ewok,

The 212th Clone Trooper is nice, and so is Leia in her Endor fatigues, but I really think one additional minifigure (Luke) would’ve really tied the entire calendar together. With it being a 40th ROTJ tribute, Luke in his black Jedi Master outfit would’ve been the perfect addition!

All in all, another great year for Star Wars fans. It has been an absolute blast each day and I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for following along, for those that’s the first time following this daily countdown, or if you’re returning after discovering this blog in previous years!

Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a happy new year!

I really enjoyed following along with you while we opened ours. Thanks. I hope to see you Christmas 2024 too!

  2. John Farina says:

These countdowns are awesome! I love getting extra context on the pieces that I’m not entirely familiar with. Thank you for taking the time to do this!

I’ve taken the holiday oriented minifigs and droids and incorporated them into my holiday sets. Palpy is hanging out at the Alpine Lodge. R2D2 and C3PO are checking out Mr. Jollie’s. Stuff like that.

I wonder what folks do after the holiday? Do you just pack the calendar and builds away until next year? Do you display them somewhere all year? Take them apart and rebuild? I’d love to hear some ideas of what to do with all of these great builds from the last two years.

    • Craig Girten says:

I pack the holiday ones away, and the “regular ones” are on a shelf. I need to figure out a new solution, though, I’m running out of space, I’m at about ten calendars-worth now.

  3. Gil says:

Another great year for your blog! Really enjoy reading it with the family!

  4. Jeff C says:

A good year. And I love the sweet mini Star Destroyer! Let’s hope next year sees some Andor/Ahsoka catch-up. A B2EMO is on my list for 2024. See you there.

  5. IainB says:

I think I may have a rare Ewok as the Christmas tree is missing from the cape which is just green with dots.

As for general thoughts, a pretty good calendar and the only minor niggle was that maybe the Omega/sled combo and Gonk droid reindeer should have appeared at the end and everything else shifted back a couple of days.

    • Jay Ong says:

      That’s a really cool misprint!

I did really like that the festive builds were spaced out throughout and not everything was back-ended!

      • Rudy says:

Thank you for the daily breakdown. I appreciated the commentary.
I am so happy there were no weapon racks in this calendar, every day felt special (even the Star Destroyer, though I think your criticism of that was fair).

  6. Josh G says:

Been exciting & fun ride opening doors & following along this year. Thanks for another awesome Advent Starwars blog. Looking forward to next year calendar. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year 2024. May the Lego be with you all! 🙂

  7. Ian says:

Thanks so much for doing this, it was my first Lego advent calendar and I would have been lost on a couple of the builds without you!
Merry Christmas to you and yours! 🎄🎅🤶🎄

  8. Francisco says:

Thanks Jay for another year of walking us through the advent calendar builds. Looking forward to next year already.

  9. Zac says:

I look forward every year for your daily rundown. I may be in the minority of this, but I feel like this year was a major let down. There was hardly anything Christmasy this year compared to years past. If this were just a calender built for a random month, then by all means is this a great calender with great builds.

  10. James Wood says:

    Hello From Colorado!
I look forward to your Annual Countdown almost as much as the actual calendar –
Thanks For All The Hard Work!

  11. Nat Whitney says:

You have been a huge help to me this year! The instructions were so small and dark, I had a hard time seeing them. You included great photos.
Thank you for going day-by-day, and not spoiling the calendar. You showed so much restraint, and care for the experience!
I needed some of those early clue-ins for things I didn’t recognize.
The archive of previous years’ builds is a wonderful resource. Bookmarked!
A thousand thanks for your efforts.

  12. David says:

Thank you for the review, it has become an essential part of the Advent calendar and adds to the fun. Merry Christmas

  13. Stephanie says:

Merry Christmas 🎄. I’ve for the most part enjoyed this year’s calendar (missed out on last year since my son decided he didn’t want it anymore. He just wants the Minifigures.). I loved all the RotJ builds with the exception of the Star destroyer Lol and the Ewok glider. I also would have liked to see Luke.

  14. Ioan says:

Thank you for letting us continue the family tradition of “what does Jay say?” again this year Jay. You are an integral part of our Christmas season! Have a great Christmas. I hope Santa brings you some great new sets.

  15. Owen Davies says:

Merry Christmas to you and your family Jay. Thanks again for another wonderful review.

  16. Lee says:

Thanks for another year’s round up Jay, merry Christmas to you & yours.

Slightly disappointed that Andor never seems to get a look-in in these. Where’s the Christmas wrapping B2EMO?

  17. Thaddues says:

Thanks Jay for another great Advent Calendar unboxing. I don’t think I’d keep buying it every year if it wasn’t for following along with you.
    Merry Xmas.

    • Sara says:

Thank you Jay! This is my 8th year following your blog!

I sort of hated the calendar this year – I feel like Star Wars is a good balance of whimsey and war, and this year the calendar felt low on the whimsey in my opinion – it felt mostly all battle moments. And on the minifigures front I would love a Han Solo!

But your reviews and coverage were as always excellent!

Take care and happy holidays to you and your family 🙂

  18. SteveS says:

An Ewok! Who’d have thunk it!? We’ve enjoyed this years calendar and loved the ewok having the glider and the battle droid having the STAP = more playability. Would’ve definitely been nice to have a Luke or Han character but we always love the gonk droid and consider it one. We really like the pit droid as well.

It’s been another great year and going along the advent journey with Jay and all you guys/gals really makes it more special.

Have a great Christmas and New Year eveyone! See you here next year, if not earlier through the blog.

  19. SaCul says:

Overall, I enjoyed this years calendar.

I do wish the final 5ish days weren’t spoiled/shown off by the box. Also nothing really said “holidays” about most of the builds. The amount of minifigures seemed lacking as well, (but that may be because I’m comparing it to this years marvel calendar)

On the other hand, I much prefer this years minifig + vehicle/accessory thing they got going over the weapon racks.
The selection of minifigures was top notch too, Finally getting both an Emperor AND a Leia was perfect. (only took 13 years)

  20. Kristopher M Morin says:

Som 0f the builds were disappointing and the last ones are spoiled by the box, but at least there wasn’t,t 3 weapons racks like the Mando year.

  21. Nick says:

Well I think this calendar was off to a flying start with fun builds, good sculpturing and multiple days leading to bigger wholes (minifig + something to put it in)
    However …
As the days went by, the bullds got smaller, faster, consisting of just a few bricks… Or plates.
No more spare parts and almost every day became ‘of course another disappointment ‘.

If next year’s calendar turns out to be such a disappointment as this one, I’d probably stop getting them all together.

  22. James-Anthony says:

Totally agree about the star destroyer, very disappointing!

  23. Lee says:

I quite like it. It’s almost a… nanobuild!

  24. Christopher Ernest Evans says:

I agree Jay that this year would have been perfect to get the Executor for the 40th Anniversary of RotJ.

Come to think of it have we ever gotten a Super Star Destroyer in an advent calendar?

  25. IainB says:

Look at it this way – given that the last two builds are relatively obvious, we haven’t had a gun rack this year. Woohoo! Yay!

  26. Sorry Jay, but instead of getting the clone turbo tank in day 5, I got another lmperial star destroyer!

  27. David says:

Somebody may already have pointed this out but the Dec 22nd star destroyer is the exact same design used for the escorting destroyers in the 75356 Executor set. I kinda like how they’re the absolute smallest number of pieces I could imagine to achieve a recognisable star destroyer.

  28. Shmorkie13 says:

With the new throne, now you can sit in his lap and tell him what you want for Christmas lol

  29. Justin says:

So much RotJ. I’ll go nuts if one of these last few doors is a micro Death Star 2

  30. John dudley says:

I really love the inclusion of an accessory for each minifig, but what about poor Leia? I’m wondering if the speeder was supposed to be big enough for her to ride on but got cut for costs. Seems really strange to exclude her from the fun.

  31. Levi says:

I really miss when the Star Wars advent calendars felt more festive throughout. The builds in this year’s calendar have been spectacular, but with only 4 “real” minifigures so far and probably only time for 1 more, that is certainly a lowlight of this years calandar.

  32. Lego Jedi says:

Day 21 the throne is cool. Black compliments the sweater but a sprig of Holly might give it a seasonal flare.
I found it a prone to toppling over, it needs a brick price to support it ideally

  33. Michael says:

I love that Palpatine’s Throne is a recliner. Because he is such a laid back kind of guy.

  34. Silver says:

To anyone looking to get missing days, try calling customer service. I was missing my day 3 and called to see if I could get it replaced, they said they could and have sent it out to me by mail. Hope this helps.

  35. SaCul says:

I LOVE that Palpatine’s sweater matches the exclusive ugly sweater Vader we got in 2020.

  36. ROSHELLE says:

My son was soooo excited for this one, and mistakenly got a battle droid. He’s so sad this morning. Any ideas on how to get one?

  37. Dp says:

Ha. Got another trade federation droid, no Palps. This is a first.

    • Frank Zanes says:

We ended up with two bunkers and no clone tank so far. If you find out a way to get full bag replacements please post.

  38. Dan says:

Pleased its not the Marvel calendar….Palpatine’s lightning bolts would have come on their own on a different day!

  39. SteveS says:

we like the shield generator. Really simple but effective build. The hinged pieces are great for posing it.

  40. Davjd says:

Speechless about the lack of figures. I actually like the collection of scenes for endor – the village, bunker, shield generator and even the walker. All of which go together for a nice little display. But somewhere they needed to make room for another figure. The bike was the most recent one they should have skipped (or made bigger to fit a figure). Or they should have skipped that clone outpost.
5 days to go and I’m very doubtful we get three solid figures. Two are obvious from the inside of the box (I’ve resisted studying the outside), but I’m still hoping for another good one to make 3.
    Thanks for the great coverage!

  41. Frank says:

My day 19 turned out to be another day 17. So two AT-STs for me, and no shield generator. First time this has happened to me.

  42. Yves Bormes says:

I got a mispacked one for the 18th … I had 2 speederbikes behind that window … Not that i complain about it lol

  43. Christopher says:

Great countdown as always Jay! I’m a little late but one thing I did to make Day 2’s Justifier better was to put a black 1×1 square stud on the tail facing forward. That one piece really makes a difference IMO.

  44. Rustin says:

Let me start off by saying I’m really enjoying this countdown!

This is my first Lego Advent Calendar and it’s been a lot of fun. The microbuilds are great, but really excited about the mini figs (probably one of my favorite Lego things).

I was kind of sad that the speeder didn’t come with a small figure that could sit on it. Oh well.

  45. SteveS says:

We like the speeder bike. Another iconic vehicle. I like the extra length but agree it could’ve definitely done with a couple of triangular vanes on the front.
Fingers crossed for a figure tomorrow.

  46. David says:

Gotta say this is the first really disappointing window. I was really expecting a figure. We got three solid micro models representing endor that you could kind of put side by side. But the bike is a bit out of place. I actually like the build, but would rather they’d done one big enough for Leia to sit on (or given us a biker scout and the bike in separate windows). Just 6 days left which doesn’t bode well for getting too many figs.

Still a strong calendar overall but they should have swapped the bike for a figure or figure accessory. Or maybe swapped one of the droids for a normal figure (not the gonk though, that was great).

    • Josh G. says:

Day 18th was underwhelming. Felt like it was missing a “floating” base. Decided to use the STAP’s green base & clear piece to Spewder bike to give it “hoveering” above the ground look.

  47. Smi says:

The speeder bike is a Mandalorian one rather than an Endor/Imperial one, isn’t it?

    Loving the round-up!

  48. Dan says:

Glad I found & have been following this blog, because the calendar has one thing that bugs me: the dang instructions are too small for my eye. I was taking pics & blowing them up, but your excellent pics have made that BS unnecessary!

  49. Nekras says:

Love the upside down AAT in the back of Day 18. 😀

  50. REG BRAILEY says:

Reminded me that I have one for mini figures in a box. Added black spares for steering vanes from this years spares. So excellent job a real surprise.

  51. Duck Head Trooper says:

The lack of minifig is the only bad thing bout this calendar:( according t the cover we only get 7..

  52. SteveS says:

we also really like this years AT-ST. Agree the 2017 leg look better but the general profile for this yaer is much better than the 2022 version.
O-oh Jay! You tempting fate with mention of a weapons rack??!!!:)

  53. Max R. says:

Day 17: I really like the design of this year’s AT-ST, visually at least. I think this is probably the most accurate so far (albeit it’s missing the (admittedly very small) side weapons). I think it loses a bit on playability/possibility by having the overhanging head though, since it can’t really be rotated at all, but I think that’s a fair enough trade off for how it looks as is.

    • Lee says:

Using the best elements of the three versions we have now, it might be possible to create the UCS (Ultimate Calendar Series) AT-ST! 🤪

  54. Duck Headed Trooper says:

My first thought of day 6 was a bathtub/counter.. and day 1 was like who is this Weird Kid Anyway wonder what day 25 will bring..

  55. Jeff C says:

Putting the spare grey cheese-tringle on the stud on top of the AT-ST looks good to me.

  56. Duck Head Stormtrooper says:

Great review and info as usual! Thank you so much! I only started reading your blog this year and its my first SW Advent Calendar and just read all your 2014-2023 review XD took a few hours. Love the humour added in. Just noticed you sometimes messed with the group shots so I’ll be looking out for them. Im not a lego fan but i still love these micro scale movie characters! P.S.Is it just me or is this year missing out imperial troopers (stormy snowy sandy scouts etc) exited for next years build too!

  57. REG BRAILEY says:

Great design as a mini, attention & thought to detail works

  58. REG BRAILEY says:

Re: Bunker. Would had been nice the size of a matchbox to give more realism, only a few more bricks Lego

  59. Dudley says:

Day 16 was my first meh day and that’s pretty great compared to past calendars I’ve done. Microscale is great but when it has unexpected detail for a small number of pieces or is remarkably clever. This just felt bland and lazy to me. Still, better than a weapons rack.

  60. Lee says:

Love the microscale builds, IMO they display the most inventiveness in recreation via Lego!

  61. Wilson says:

On the battle droid I got a one by one stud brick instead of legs!

  62. Elle Haz says:

Anyone else open day 16 and have missing pieces?
The bag isn’t ripped and we have half the pieces and wrong pieces included!

  63. Lego Jedi says:

Oh, day 16. My bag corner was ripped off, which explains finding 2 ramp grills earlier on in the calendar.
I’ve misplaced them and had check my spares from previous years 😞

  64. Lego Jedi says:

    I reckon it’s a 50/50 calendar too.
I’d guessed the last 2 days (village & bunker).
You’re right on the minifigure, feels a bit tight on them, I’m watching the kids open Potter and Marvel it’s almost a figure a day! Lol

  65. Alex says:

My son asked Santa for a Lego Ewok Village for Christmas, and it looks like Santa came through!

(I’m ignoring the little UCS he tacked on to his request)

  66. Johnnytamale says:

The only reason it’s recognizable as the Ewok Village is because that’s the only thing it could possibly be.

  67. Adam says:

I’d love a new Ewok village as I missed out on the last one. Fingers crossed

  68. daniel hildreth says:

The ewok village is nice, however it is very fiddley to build!

  69. David says:

Excited to have this Leia as I love the Endor fatigues. Wish she had the helmet though. The cookie is a nice touch. If only we could get Wicket…

  70. Phil Pursglove says:

I got another Omega bag this morning. I’ve just gone to order the replacement parts, but the legs, body head and blaster are all listed as Out of Stock, so we’ll see what Lego come back with…

  71. Veda says:

Shouldn’t we have a weapons rack by now?

  72. Cindy Stephens says:

My Leia came with two guns and two cookies. Guess it depends on what mood she’s in!

  73. SaCul says:

I’m amazed it took over 10 years of advent calendars to finally get a Leia minifig.(And if the box spoilers are to be believed well get another first big name) It’s a good year for completing collections.

  74. Owen Davies says:

Just a general comment on the advent so far, I don’t feel like the instructions are ‘bad’ more that the models are more complex than usual? This then makes it harder for the designers and illustrators to show on a very small, single pane window. If anything, I’ve quite enjoyed the challenge of working out how to build some of them!

Also, thanks again for the blog Jay. As usual, I open mine up and build it then read your blog to get the extra info, and sometimes to work out exactly what/who it is!!

    • Jay Ong says:

Yeah, that’s a good point. They should adjust the orientation slightly so it’s easier. My gripe is that they can be very imposing for beginners who might not be seasoned builders and can’t imagine the spatial layout of bricks as easily as we do.

      • Owen Davies says:

It probably wouldn’t be too hard for them to do a digital version like they’re doing with some many sets now? They’re obviously having to CAD them anyway for the single panes, so go whole hog! 🙂

  75. David says:

Oh, no! This is my first missing piece issue I’ve ever had with a LEGO set. My Lambda-class shuttle is missing the very top 1×2 ingot piece. I’ve checked everywhere, but definitely didn’t drop it. 🙁

    • Lee says:

You might find it in another box on the “grid”. Occasionally pieces – particularly thin ones like ingots – will go walkabout between boxes. 🤞

  76. Lee says:

Is this the first time they’ve done a Lambda-class shuttle? I know they’ve done First Order shuttles from the Sequel Trilogy, and from Rogue One as well, but not sure about this one…

  77. Steve says:

Do *not* get the fascination with gonk droids!

That said, once the (what I thought were) arms went on the side I didn’t even realise that that was what it was meant to be. Terrible model, terrible droid.

Not overly impressed with this years calendar (or the instructions!), day 13 is a bit weak too – won’t spoil what it is though.

  78. Francisco says:

This year’s advent calendar has been good! But the gonk droid Rudolf build has been the best so far.

  79. Joe says:

“And that’s it for Day 11 so far! We’re almost at the halfway mark, and miraculously, there hasn’t been a single Original Trilogy build or character yet, which is quite surprising!”

    MIRACULOUSLY?!!! > : /

  80. SteveS says:

Always love a gonk droid. Our favourite non-character character. My son immediately replaced the nose stud with a red one.

  81. Craig Girten says:

I love the tail on the GONK. Wonderful!

  82. PJ says:

Swapped out the nose on today’s Reindeer Gonk Droid for a red stud and think it looks much better. It really seems to finish it off. Thanks for the blog – very helpful with builds that are not that clear.

  83. Cindy S. says:

I got a bonus today in that I got two packets for two AATs. Didn’t notice the second bag until I was putting the first bag with the extra pieces back into the compartment.

    Extra artillery!

  84. Tracie Clugston says:

Thank you so much Jay, I’d be lost without your blog as I’d struggle with quite a few of the pieces. This 56 year old woman from the UK thanks you immensely for all your help over the years helping me to build the advent lego.
Many thanks and keep up the good work and have a great Christmas.

  85. SteveS says:

Thanks for the instructions on the AAT Jay. We struggled with this one a bit. Love the model though. It’s quite ingenious the way its put together.

  86. Nyx says:

We got two ATT lol no pit droid though 🙁

  87. Matt says:

Hey Ammittai, I think the pieces got jumbled up in the advent calendar and Leah must be from a different door 😔

  88. Paul Castle says:

On Friday I was like “Oh joy, another Battledroid. Yay.”, but Saturday’s build made it part of something really special. If you put the droid’s gun on its back you can use both “twenty to one” angled arms to grip the handles properly btw, looks great. Love the two assault vehicle builds from Sunday and Monday too. I’d not noticed the lack of original trilogy gifts, something which I would have grumbled about way back in 2011 when these calendars started, which shows how much Clone Wars has changed my love for 21st Century Star Wars this past decade.

    • Jeff C says:

And if you leave the droid arm attached to the gun on his back its looks like he retrieved it from an exploded fellow battle droid.

  89. Ammittai says:

My son got a Princess Leia on day 10 instead of the Hailfire Tank. The instructions were for the tank but it was a minifig instead.

    • Matt says:

Hey Ammittai, I think the pieces got jumbled up in the advent calendar and Leah must be from a different door 😔

    • Ammittai says:

I have to say though, LEGO is super responsive when there is an error. We have already gotten the Hailfire droid build through the mail and my son is very happy.

  90. David Bercovici says:

I think the hailfire is my favourite micro build and one of the best Windows overall this year, along with the N1. I wasn’t too fond of the turbo tank or the command station so this was a nice step forward. Also makes me wonder if this could be foreshadowing a Hailfire playset in 2024 pr 2025.

  91. maverick says:

i opened day 10 and got a tsmeu 6 personal wheel bike

  92. Marshall says:

I am more satisfied with the battle droid now, but I don’t think day 9 should have a snow white platform to be more “wintery”

  93. Tim says:

Should have made the base white to go with the winter theme. Other than that I like it.

  94. Lego Jedi says:

Spotted the STAP and it’s a good inclusion but needed a foot plate ideally.
    Strong prequel vibes this year

  95. Jeff C says:

Battle droids – you can’t have just one.

And were they really all called Roger? As in ‘Roger, Roger.’

  96. James Wynne says:

    Top five Battle Droid quotes:-
    1. “Roger Roger”
    2. “Roger Roger”
    3. “Roger Roger”
    4. “Roger Roger”
    5. “Roger Roge

  97. Matt says:

This build was totally recognizable to me but I think all of these battle drones are getting a little repetitive so I hope something new will happen like commando droid. This build was really recognizable, not sure how happy I am to get a battle droid this year but I can put it with the 100000 others

  98. SaCul says:

Has there been a year/calendar without a battle droid yet?

    • Johnnytamale says:

2015 and 2021 had IG assassin models, but no proper battle droids, and 2017 had no battle droids at all, but 2014 had a super battle droid and every other year has a B1 battle droid. But NEVER a commander or droideka.

  99. Johnnytamale says:

Why are there never any commander battle droids? It feels like if I’m going to amass an army of battle droids i should probably get some commanders or B2 or especially droidekas.

  100. Thaddeus says:

There’s always a battle droid. I’m imaging LEGO have a warehouse full of these to get rid of 😀

  101. Keith Fortin says:

Been following your Star Wars Advent Calendar Blog for 4 years now, thank you for doing this, it’s very helpful and I look forward to reading your entry after I build the daily kit. Have a great day!

  102. Kevin Corr says:

Dec. 7th is a Turkey Droid, and no one is going to convince me otherwise… 😉

  103. SteveS says:

Thought the command console was a floating Christmas chair or similar but we’re happy to be corrected! 🙂

And a Battle Droid for Day 8! Always need loads of these guys. Fantastic!

  104. maverick says:

i opened day 8 expecting a weapon rack or somethig but no it was a b1 battle droid

  105. Kitty says:

My son’s day 4 looks nothing like what you got. Is it possible the correct pieces are in another door/day? Very disappointed. Thanks for always keeping us up-to-date with great pictures and info.

    • SteveS says:

      Hello Kitty,

They ‘sometimes’ get mixed up in the box. Happened to us a few times but you can open the box and swap ’em around back into the correct places when your son’s not looking. Sometimes you can get duplications but if you miss anything, Lego are great at replacing them for free.

    • Certified Sewer Dweller says:

Are you sure the Pit Droid was built right? Does it contain all the correct pieces?

  106. Ian Hazlehurst says:

Thanks again Jay, I would never have got that one!

  107. Marshall says:

This build wasn’t recognizable nor from instructions or build itself but this entry helped me understand it thanks, Jay.

  108. Johnnytamale says:

I was hoping for some form of landspeeder because that’s what we got in day 7 the last 2 years.

  109. Pete says:

I was completely bamboozled by the day 7 clone command station. I thought it was the medical droid that delivered Luke and Leia from the fading Padme!

  110. Paul Castle says:

I guessed it was a command station of some kind, given it had a place for a minifig to stand, and a transmitter mast.

Not the most exciting build, but makes a change from the old weapons racks.

  111. MagickChicken says:

I wasn’t into Lego in 2016, I didn’t realize they put Quinlan Vos in the Turbo Tank set. Now I really want one!

  112. maverick says:

i opened day 6 and got a 212th legion clone trooper

  113. Ann Marie Holmes says:

My 4th is not the right build. So frustrating, I had this same issue with last year’s.

    • Mickey says:

Me too last year (twice, in fact), but Lego was quick to mail me the pieces – no questions asked. Free bricks!

  114. Frank Zanes says:

So weird…our day 5 is a totally different build…same on the diagram but completely different pieces.

  115. garrett says:

I don’t open each day because I’m weird and want to preserve the box. I look at the dates on the front and slide the inside out and grab the spot designated on the front. This means I can’t see what’s inside the panel and the directions for the day. So, I pulled out day 4, ripped the bag open and then checked this site and I didn’t have the pit droid pieces in my bag. I haven’t seen anyone here say anything to the contrary so is it safe to assume they put my pieces in the wrong compartment? I did see the pit droid parts on the 10th which was one slot to the left.

    • Levi says:

It could be like last year where you had to take the tray and flip it the other way and some of them were just messed up and in the wrong order. Last year’s though, it was rare to get a calendar that didn’t have any problems 😂

  116. Lee says:

Since I made the decision to stop getting the advent calendar (and just follow it here), I’ve occasionally regretted it a bit. This year, not so much. It’s still early days, obviously, but I’m just not feeling it. Granted Star Wars is a broad church and there’s a huge canon to draw from when it comes to filling the calendar, but increasingly it’s feeling like there’s little here to appeal to me personally. But ,there’s plenty to appeal to others, so that’s fine.

It’d be good to have some Andor stuff in. Maybe ev this gag item, but done for real:

    https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FhNhWpnXEAEAiF0.jpg

    • Craig Girten says:

Definitely a broad church. I feel like they’re knocking it out of the park with this one. Sorry it doesn’t scratch that itch for you. 🙁

  117. Paul Castle says:

I’m really loving this now, with the festive Pit Droid and Turbo Tank continuing a great run of builds! Funny things out the tank though is that I was convinced there were no wheels in the Star Wars universe until this one reminded me. I guess the tank’s modelled on old, pre hover tech?

  118. SteveS says:

Loving the clone tank ‘ its turbo time!’ 🙂

  119. Dylan Mercer says:

Thanks Jay! Enjoying opening these and the city one with my son and checking in to see what a fellow Aussie thinks of them

  120. Johnnytamale says:

For all Bad Batch fans, you can dig out the Bad Batch shuttle from day six last year.

  121. James Wynne says:

    To quote A New Hope:-
“We don’t serve their kind here”!!!!

  122. Marshall says:

Me and my dad love your reviews on these builds. Thankfully I haven’t mixed any LEGOs yet. i have been getting extra pieces in mine but that’s just if you loose em, right?

  123. James Wynne says:

It was only when I turned it around did I realise what it was! Nothing beats that eureka moment, especially on a lazy Sunday!

  124. Levi says:

I was confused when I first opened it but when I turned it around, I was like, NO WAY THE MANDOLORIAN”S STARFIGHTER!!! Thanks Jay

  125. Paul Castle says:

I didn’t recognise Day 3 because the instructions showed it facing away from us, rather than front end first 🙂

  126. Paul says:

“The instructions are quite poor…” Does this mean the advcalendent ar comes with instructions? I haven’t been able to find any? Thanks!

  127. Magnus says:

Naah man come. I know you want to play nice and not piss off Lego but that is not the Justifier, maybe if you only have one I and a bird just shit in it could you think that remotely looks like the Justifier. It is the worst design in a Lego calendar I have seen so far and that apparently legaly blind designer and Lego needs to be told this. Yes it has an engine that folds down but it does not look like the Justifiers engine. This is just bad and someone needs a good whipping for letting tjis through.

    • Paul Castle says:

Looks close enough to me. Over the last 13 years of doing this calendar I have seen a lot of these nano builds and all required a certain amount of imagination to visualise: this one is clunky, yes, but eminently recognisable.

      • Magnus says:

I firmly and strongly disagree. This is a abysmal design. The only thing the back engine has in common with the Justifier is that it can move, colors are wrong and the shape is way of.

The triangles on the end of the wings that are suppose to symbolize the weapons looks nothing at all like the end of the wing of the Justifier and again, wrong color.

The cockpit is just to short way to short, a black one could have easily been added to the design, especially since they bloody added an extra one in the bag.

This isn’t my first calendar and there has been a few bad designs but this is like a person that really should wear glasses caught a glimpse of the ship and then described it to the designer.

        • AEL says:

Magnus, I would be interested in seeing your own MOC of the Justifier with about the same number of pieces. It sounds like you might be able to do better than the Lego designers. Yay!

          • Magnus says:

You know that the designers gets payed for this? It is their job and they get to play with LEGO for a living. They should do a better job than the Justifier, maybe realize that it cant be done well within those limitations and have something else in the calendar.

    • Jay Ong says:

I mean, the ship itself isn’t much to look at, but at least you can kinda tell what it is.

Doesn’t help that The Justifier looks like an old school iron with wings.

  128. Dez says:

Thanks for the help with building. I was stumped.

  129. Ian Hazlehurst says:

Thanks Jay I was confused too & I put a piece in wrong, but now corrected.

  130. Janet says:

Thanks for the extra build instructions. I’m not as familiar with the office shoots of the Star Wars story.

  131. Levi says:

When I first opened the build, I was so confused about what it was and the first thought I had was “Oh. I’ll just see what Jay says it is!” The instructions were poorly done but I ended up figuring it out anyway. Without your post I never would have guessed what it was!

  132. Bill says:

I had no idea what Day 2 was until I asked my Star Wars obsessed daughter who immediately said “I think it’s the Justifier.” We had to confirm by checking the blog. Of course she also knew Omega was in the Justifier set. I don’t know if that makes me sad or proud.

  133. Lesley says:

Thanks for the help with Day two’s build; I would never have known that the red dot went in the middle!

  134. Meg says:

    Thanks for this “guide.”

Are their extra pieces on day two? I have six “extra” (?) pieces: a single red, black, gray and clear, which I can’t figure out where to put them!?

  135. Ron says:

So far so good. Lots of extra little pieces in Day 2. Loved Bad Batch and looking forward to season #2 !!!

  136. Jessica says:

Thank you for this! I came across your blog after my son finished the Day 2 build and had a few extra pieces, so I searched wondering if anyone else had the same issue. This is our first year doing a Lego advent; is this common?

Can’t wait to see what’s next in the days ahead!

  137. Francisco says:

Checking in on my third Lego calendar build with Jay. Pleasantly surprised they included bad batch builds for the first two days so far. Can’t wait to see what’s ahead.

  138. Laura Fay says:

Just like a kid, I was excited for Dec. 1 to come to start this year’s calendar! I’ve bought my own since my kids gave me my first one several years ago. And I love this blog, Jay. Though I’m an avid SW fan, I’m not much into the animated series, so your explanations are very helpful. As I opened day 2 and saw the build picture, I immediately thought, Jay will have more pictures of the build if I can’t figure it out. 😂 I was able to figure it out, but it’s so good to know you’re there to help!!

  139. Casa D says:

Your blog is part of our family’s holiday tradition! My son didn’t recognize today’s ship, and was like, look it up on the blog! I totally agree that the instructions printed on the door were poor. Thanks for the build-in-progress photos, they were helpful and made the difference. Thank you so much for another year!

  140. Bill says:

My Day 2 had the instructions for the Justifier, but the parts for the speeder bike.

Fortunately, it was an easy to decipher build from pictures in the cover.

  141. John Brady says:

Great to be here again with everyone for my favourite Star Wars set of the year. Merry Christmas to you all from Blackpool, UK

  142. Rebecca & Toby says:

Thank you so much for doing this – we love your blog and my son loves to hear about the pieces once he’s opened and built them.

  143. Nick M says:

Thanks for starting another year of the Star Wars advent calendar Jay. It’s always useful to have the less well known builds identified. I would never have known who Omega is. Looking forward to the coming builds

    • Rob says:

I have to agree, I’ve watched all the Star Wars shows and movies and cartoons (including Bad Batch) and had no idea that was Omega (nor did I know the Justifier). Then again, Omega (and her character voice) makes me cringe every time I see/hear her, so I’m not a fan of her.

  144. Scott says:

Hi Jay, love your blog every Christmas, and explanations of all the models.
Not sure if anyone else has struck this but our Day 1 cavity had the Day 23 pieces in it, Day 2 cavity had the Day 22 pieces… using your blog to figure out what the models should be!
Can’t wait to see that the Day 3 hole has in it 🙂

    • Catherine Barrett says:

Our Day 1 was correct but our Day 2 wasn’t. Surprising quantity control issue from LEGO! But fortunately, 7yo was undeterred and unbothered. We didn’t open the other windows to figure out what day the build went with, but I think we figured it out based on what was on the box. This year’s calendar might be quite the adventure!

    • Michael says:

It sounds like the tray within your box was installed backwards. If you take the tray out of the box, rotate it 180 degrees, then put it back in the box, everything should line up!

      • Scott says:

Hi Michael, thanks for this you were spot on. When Day 3 ended up being Day 7’s lego you could see that everything was out by 180degrees 🙂

  145. Jeff Cotton says:

Weird that the only bit of colour on the Justifier is hidden.

  146. Loreto says:

Thank you so much for the explanation of the day two pieces! I was so puzzled 😵‍💫
Bought this for my 7 year old and we were both struggling to figure out the final shape.
Looking forward what comes in later days 😀

  147. Paul Castle says:

Thanks Jay, as I’m behind on the last year or three’s worth of Star Wars Disney your description of these two days are as invaluable as ever! Two great builds so far – I love how the minifig came with a build too!

  148. Joe says:

Love your blog and have been following for a few years now. Thought for a second this might be one of the kids from Battle For Endor. Happy to get Omega!

  149. Tim says:

Jay, love this countdown, love the blog! Great you’re up and running again. Only problem is this makes me want to buy more festive Lego, starting with the Viking Village. You should announce your Prize Day of the calendar on Xmas Eve — which day you think gives us the best set!

  150. Sihu says:

    Hello there, Jay!
I already have three advent calenders but I love reading your reviews!
    Can’t wait for Day 2!

  151. David says:

Glad to be joining you for another year, Jay.
Very happy with Omega, especially as I already knew she was in the set (trying to avoid spoilers but not so successful). Also very happy with the sled. I got really frustrated like Marvel, where you get a figure and then accessories or useless builds in other windows. Hopefully, this bodes well for not wasting windows. A very good start.

  152. Lee says:

Bloody hell, are we doing this again already?? I don’t know where the years go… but it’s good to be on this journey again with you, Jay. 😉

  153. Alex says:

I am glad to be back! I was not able to acquire the calendar last year, but I am back for my 4th calendar since 2019. Glad to be back an excited to see what this calendar has! I have managed to go completely spoiler-free 2021 and this year by getting another member of my household to order it for me, then paying them back, and having them cover up every the front and the builds in the window section of the calendar. I especially like this so that I can have the last build, usually featured, to be a surprise. Anyways, glad to be back following your blog, and happily awaiting tomorrow’s build!

  154. Tim says:

Great day one! I thought it was Luke at first too. Thanks for the clarification.

  155. Norm says:

Day 1 build a little odd on the instruction for the 1/4 round pieces and how they connect. Dig the minifigure for Day 1.
Would like to see a little more detail on the flat “playing field” as it were too.

  156. Levi says:

Thanks for the posts, Jay! Very very helpful especially when you can’t tell what you built.

  157. David says:

Thank you, Jay! This is much appreciated every year! 🙂

  158. Rob says:

So happy to get Omega! I was really excited when I saw her on the box since I have the Bad Batch shuttle and was disappointed to have the entire Bad Batch without Omega. Was really surprised to see her day one and a build included with a figure at that, pretty sure that’s a Star Wars advent calendar first unless somebody can prove me wrong on that. Sure we have had mini figures with accessories but I can’t remember an actual build in the same day.

  159. SaCul says:

Was quite surprised to see a minifig in with a build. maybe even the dreaded weapons rack will have a minifig this year.

  160. Jennifer Roberts says:

Thanks so much for your blog. You are one of our family’s holiday traditions!

  161. Barbara Seaton says:

Great posts on all the advent calendars. I’ve got the Star Wars and Harry Potter ones. Harry is very envious of Omega’s sled

  162. Steve says:

Hi Jay! Here we go again! Love our countdown with the brick blog. Had a minor panic when the Star Wars calendar was missing this morning but see we’re all ready to go now. You’ve set yourself quite a task with 5 calendars this year!!

We love the first character and thought it was a mini Luke Skywalker but happy to be corrected.
