Review: LEGO 70919 The Justice League Anniversary Party

January 14, 2018 By Jay 8 Comments

For my first review of 2018, I’ve opted to start a little small, and start with familiar territory, DC Super Heroes, or more specific in this case, The LEGO Batman Movie. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on 70919 Justice League Anniversary Party the moment it was unveiled – the set is based on…

Thoughts on the new LEGO sets previewed at the German Toy Fair 2017

February 4, 2017 By Jay 33 Comments

The 2017 German Toy Fair (Spielwarenmesse) was held in Nuremberg earlier this week, and as is customary, it gives LEGO fans a first look at a selection of new sets and themes from the second half (2HY) of 2017. Photography at the German Toy Fair is rather limited and the more intricate details are hard…

Review: LEGO 76045 Kryptonite Interception

February 25, 2016 By Jay 28 Comments

The Batman v Superman hype train has no brakes. Following on from my review of the excellent gateway set to the theme, 76044 Clash of the Heroes, I’ll be taking a look at the next set in the wave – 76045 Kryptonite Interception. Kryptonite Interception is the medium-sized set from the initial bunch of Batman…

Review: LEGO 76044 Clash of the Heroes

February 20, 2016 By Jay 26 Comments

If you’ve been following my blog for awhile, you could’ve probably clued in to the fact that one of my favourite licensed themes is DC Super Heroes. I’ve always preferred DC over Marvel, and I cannot wait for the upcoming Batman v Superman movie that opens in Australian cinemas on 24 March 2016. I think…

Review: LEGO 76034 The Batboat Harbour Pursuit

August 18, 2015 By Jay 10 Comments

A minor wave of LEGO DC Super Heroes sets recently hit Australian stores, I think sometime in the middle of June and I picked up The Batboat Harbour Pursuit purely to get my hands on the long awaited Deathstroke minifigure. If you’ve been reading my blog and LEGO Super Heroes reviews for some time, you’d…

Pack your walking stick because we're going on an Pack your walking stick because we're going on an adventure to explore the LEGO Hundred Acre Wood with @lego LEGO 21326 Winnie the Pooh!

To celebrate its 95th anniversary, Winnie the Pooh & friends will make their LEGO debut in this 1,265-piece set that will retail for US$99.99 / AU$159.99 / £89.99.

The set's release date is 18 March 2021 for LEGO VIP members, and 1 April 2021 for a wider release and will be available on LEGO.com or your local LEGO Store.

It's pretty clear that LEGO have yet another winner on their hands with Winnie the Pooh. An eternal favourite of any generation, Winnie the Pooh's carefree, joyous nature is just the antidote we need in these troubling times, and I'm so glad that LEGO have done a terrific job with this set.

Stay tuned for my full review tomorrow!
8 years ago, our lives changed forever as we embar 8 years ago, our lives changed forever as we embarked on this crazy adventure as husband and wife!

Last year was definitely the most unprecedented™ one yet, but one that I will treasure forever.

It was an incredibly challenging year, having had to navigate through multiple job changes, yet you have never once wavered with your support and faith that I would find my feet eventually.

I might have caused some sleepless nights when work was uncertain, yet you continued to be a pillar of strength to our family, and by God's eternal grace, we always seem to come out on top.

Working from home has been truly enjoyable, especially now that you get a glimpse into the banality of work life, Zoom calls, meetings that could be emails, corporate jargon and why there must always at least 2 mugs on my desk at all times.

Thanks for taking on a second job as WFH Office Manager, tolerating my Amazon addiction and sticking around in spite of my crippling caffeine addiction.

Happy anniversary, love and here's to many more happy years ❤️

It's a bit of a strange one this year, with the pandemic throwing plans into disarray, and my family being further away than usual, so celebrations were a little different in 2021.

Thank you @LEGO for an excellent range of Chinese Traditional Festival sets. 🙏

@little.ong (and myself) really loved the Duplo Happy Childhood Moments set, and I especially enjoyed the new dumplings element! 🥟

Spring Lantern Festival is one of the best LEGO sets I've had the pleasure of building, and I also appreciated the foray into the mythological origins of Lunar New Year with Story of Nian. 🧨🧧🎆

More sets that celebrate the rich cultural diversity of the world, please! 🌏

For #Ninjago fans, it doesn’t get much better than this. 71747 The Keeper’s Village is packed with value and is a great centerpiece to Season 14 – The Island.

I have a soft spot for location, or structure-based Ninjago builds, so The Keeper’s Village strikes that itch in the best of ways.

The jungle lair sets the scene and provides a rich backdrop that works really well as a small playset and display piece.

Combined with a very generous helping of 5 minifigures, there’s a ton of value and playability built into the set, especially the stone pillar which works remarkably well as a “big enemy” for the Ninjas to deal with – it very much gives off a “mini-boss in a video game vibe”.

The highlights for me would be Chief Mammatus and Thunder Keeper’s designs. As a big fan of the Islanders theme, I love that #LEGO could callback to those designs in a fresh new way, utilising the tech and innovation that’s now possible through minifigure design.

Whether you’re an adult fan looking for a set that’s a bit more kiddy, outlandish and fun, or you’re planning to buy this for a young child who wants an engaging playset, I can highly recommend 71747 The Keeper’s Village.

Rating and score: 4/5 ★★★★✰
Thanks @lego for sending over the new #LEGONinjago Thanks @lego for sending over the new #LEGONinjago Season 14 sets ahead of their March release!
