Closer look at LEGO 75316 Mandalorian Starfighter and 75310 Duel on Mandalore

After yesterday’s early reveal in the second half 2021 catalogue, we now have a closer look, release details and pricing for two new LEGO Star Wars sets coming on 1 August 2021 – 75316 Mandalorian Starfighter and 75310 Duel on Mandalore.

Fans of the Clone Wars series are no doubt salivating at the prospect of owning these two sets, which encompass the Siege of Mandalore arc – one of the most exciting portions of the Clone Wars.

If you haven’t watched the Clone Wars, Darth Maul basically engineered a takeover of the planet Mandalore, aided by Mandalorian splinter terrorist group the Death Watch. This all culminated in the Siege of Mandalore, where Ahsoka Tano and Commander Rex led a division of the 501st Legion of clone troopers to retake Mandalore and capture Darth Maul, which was disrupted by the issuance of Order 66 and the rise of the Galactic Empire.

This is a really neat small set, great for an impulse buy and a relatively affordable way to get your hands on Ahsoka Tano and the new Darth Maul minifigure which has vastly improved printing, and is the most detailed one currently.

It’s great for re-enacting this epic duel between Ahsoka and Maul in Season 7 of the Clone Wars, and I also like that they included Darth Maul’s Mandalorian Vault in which he can be imprisoned.

Young fans can reimagine thrilling action from Star Wars: The Clone Wars with this portable Duel on Mandalore buildable playset (75310). It features a LEGO® brick-built throne with a secret drawer containing a blaster pistol, plus a decorative surround including a pop-out window element – ideal for throwing a LEGO minifigure through! Kids will also love the Mandalorian vault for imprisoning Darth Maul.

First impressions: Clone Wars and Mandalore fans who have been wanting an updated version of Pre-Visla’s Mandalorian Fighter finally have their prayers answered. It’s only taken LEGO close to 10 years, but a new Mandalorian Starfighter is long overdue and features 2-highly requested minifigures – Gar Saxon, commander of the Mandalorian Super Commandoes and Bo-Katan Kryze.

The Mandalorian Starfighter’s adjustable wings allow them to be rotated vertically, or folded down for two different forms and the cockpit fits 2 minifigures as well.

I’m most excited for the the debut of Bo-Katan Kryze as a minifigure, and am absolutely delighted that they also included her hair-piece as well. Gar Saxon also comes with a horned Mandalorian helmet, which will look familiar as it’s the same shape as the Armourer’s from the Disney Plus Mandalorian series, suggesting that a LEGO set based on the Mandalorian forge could be a distinct possibilty.

Overall, these 2 sets will make Star Wars, especially Clone Wars fans very happy, and I’m personally very excited to get my hands on them when they’re released on 1 August 2021.
