A closer look at all the minifigures from 76269 Avengers Tower

Following on from my comparison post highlighting just how tall and large 76269 Avengers Tower is, it’s time to take a closer look at the epic minifigure lineup included in the set.

As this is such a massive set, I’m splitting my review up into 3 parts, ahead of its launch on 24 November 2023 – this post is a deep dive and detailed review of the LEGO Avengers Tower minifigures.

The LEGO Design Team behind this set had massive ambitions for the set, for it to be “the most Avengers” set ever, and the epic lineup of characters (the most ever in a retail set) includes 29 minifigures, 1 Ant-Man nanofig, 1 buildable Dum-E and 1 Hulk bigfig is truly in a class of its own.

76269 Avengers Tower will be available exclusively on LEGO.com or your local LEGO Store on 24 November 2023 as a Black Friday special, and don’t forget, you can score a limited edition  5008076 LEGO Marvel Taxi GWP if you order between 24-27 November 2023.

Here’s a look at all the LEGO minifigures included in the set – which is the most ever in a retail LEGO set. It’s a shortcut to rapidly amass most major characters that have starred in Marvel’s Avengers movies, and Infinity Saga, although there are a number of high profile omissions, which we’ll cover later.

In some ways, the lineup is comparable with 76178 Daily Bugle – here are both boxes stacked on one another – they both look great together and really showcase the depth of minifigures.

I will have to say that the Daily Bugle has more interesting minifigures like Daredevil and The Punisher, as well as a whole load of Spidey variants, whereas the Avengers Tower set does cheat a little with 6 nameless characters comprised of 4 Chitauris and 2 SHIELD Agents to beef up the numbers.

LEGO Avengers Tower Exclusive Minifigures

In total, there are 15 figures that are exclusive and new to the LEGO Avengers Tower, making up just shy of half the entire line-up.

Many key Avengers minifigures like Vision, Wasp have received substantial upgrades, whereas minifigures like Black Widow and Hawkeye receive more subtle updates like leg prints. The new Hulk bigfig also makes its debut in this set and is quite an exciting upgrade.

New characters introduced in The Avengers Tower include the likes of Alexander Pierce, Dr. Helen Cho, Erik Selvig and of course, Marvel Cinematic Universe head honcho, Kevin Feige.

Now, let’s take a closer look at the minifigures!

Iron Man / Tony Stark

First up, we have the heart and soul of the Infinity Saga, Tony Stark! We get Tony Stark in a t-shirt. The outfit is based on a Black Sabbath vintage tee he wore in Avengers Assemble, but this version has a Rock Raiders helmet motif instead. It’s not an entirely new torso, as it was previously available in 76194 Tony Stark’s Sakaarian Iron Man.

Two Iron Man suits are included in the set, on the left we have the Iron Man Mark 7 armour, which is identical to the one from 76248 The Avengers Quinjet, but the Iron Man Mark 6 battle-damaged armour on the right is a new and exclusive suit.

The LEGO Iron Man MK6 armour which has battle damage looks superb, and it makes for a superb addition to anyone’s Iron Man collection.

Here’s a look at the back prints, and Tony’s face under the visor. One of the heads is a blank trans-blue minifigure head. And yes, all the Tony Stark faces, which have the heads up display on the alternate side are all the exact same faces.

Captain America and Thor

Rounding out the Big Three is Steve Rogers, aka Captain America and Thor Odinson. These minifigures are all recycled from 76248 The Avengers Quinjet, which is a little lazy and disappointing as this would’ve been a great time to introduce some new details like arm printing or leg printing for Captain America and Thor.

There are two Steve Rogers in a nod to Avengers Endgame where thanks to time-travelling shenanigans, they both meet and fight each other in the Avengers Tower.

Here’s a look at their back prints and alternate faces.

Unfortunately, there’s a really noticeable colour disparity between the Captain America heads. The face printed on the dark blue head has a really washed out, and pale colour compared to the other one, which is a frustrating occurence when LEGO prints flesh-colour tones on dark bases.

Thor does have a super dramatic Mjolnir accessory, which makes use of the new curved minifigure posing element, and a blue thunderbolt.

Hawkeye and Black Widow

Up next we have 2 of the founding members of the MCU Avengers, Hawkeye and Black Widow, both of whom have receive modest but welcome updates, making these exclusive variants. Clint Barton sports a brand new outfit, reminiscent of his Avengers Assemble outfit with the dark red cross, and SHIELD logo.

Natasha Romanoff features the same torso as the one from the 76248 The Avengers Quinjet, but she now has leg printing! It’s identical as Hawkeye’s (do they shop from the same trousers boutique?), but it is still a decent upgrade from her typically plain black legs.

I’m also a big fan of the arm printing on Black Widow.

Here’s a look at their back prints. Clint doesn’t have an alternate face, but I really like the wig used (first seen in Marvel Minifigures Series 2) and this version does really come off as the definitive version of Hawkeye.

Hulk

Up next we have a Hulk bigfig, featuring a brand new bigfig mould! It’s very exciting to see LEGO innovate the BigFig, which debuted in the first wave of LEGO Marvel sets.

LEGO have made several small tweaks to the body, namely adding 4 studs to the back of the BigFig body, which is an interesting move, suggesting that they have future plans to attach small builds or accessories to bigfigs. It’s a little reminiscent of the Bane bigfig from the LEGO Batman movie.

One of the biggest innovations however, is the Hulk’s head, which now uses the large minifigure head, and also includes its very own oversized wig, which means that for the first time ever, Hulk’s head can turn and the hair will also follow!

The large bigfig wig is a really interesting new element, and I’m excited that LEGO are producing wigs for these larger-sized heads. I did find that the clutch strength of my wig wasn’t very strong, and I found it popping off very easily which was quite annoying.

The wig also means that you can do fun things like this!

Or silly things like this, where you can swap heads with minifigure-sized hulks.

And here’s a comparison with some previous bigfig hulks. I really wish they’d bring back the original green Hulk. I’m quite nostalgic for that shade.

Falcon

And here’s a look at Falcon, who sports a brand new torso, the same strappy leather legs as Hawkeye and Black Widow (seriously, do they utilise trouser group buying services?) and also some new wings, which are unfortunately stickered.

Here’s a look at the back of the wings, and there’s also a small Redwing drone attached to his backpack.

Here’s a comparison with other Falcon minifigures. Unfortunately, while the wings are cool, I really wished the wings were printed, and it’s still nowhere near as good as the fantastic Captain America Falcon from LEGO Marvel Series 1.

War Machine

Up next we have another recycled minifigure in the form of War Machine, which first appeared in 75216 Iron Man Armoury. It’s still a very solid variant of War Machine, but I would’ve liked some new updated details here, which I don’t think is too much to ask for.

Here’s a better look at James Rhodes’ face beneath the mask, back printing and a closer look at the excellent printing on the War Machine helmet.

Scarlet Witch and Vision

Next we have the stars of Wandavision, Scarlet Witch and Vision! This variant of Wanda is recycled from 76266 Endgame Final Battle which is mildly disappointing, mostly because an update would be nice and she still has plain black legs. I would even appreciate a wig with her crown in it.

Here’s Wanda’s back print and alternate expression. Oh, and she also has a fabric waistcape. Sorry Star Wars and Captain Rex fans.

Vision on the other hand is quite possibly the best minifigure in the set – Vision, who is freshly born and is mid-phase. There’s so much to like about Vision, and I love the magenta and teal colour scheme, and detailed prints across his entire body.

And his face is also really expressive with a very thoughtful look, and I like how prominent the Mind Stone is on his forehead.

He comes with a brand new cape, which is made out of a thick sheet of flexible plastic, and features a really intricate design – I especially like that the bottom of the cape is transparent.

The transparent cape of course matches his transparent legs, which are just sublime.

And here’s a look at Vision’s back print, which is mostly obscured by the cape.

So much more vibrant than White Vision!

The Wasp and Ant-Man

Moving on to our next Avengers power-couple, we have The Wasp and Ant-Man. Ant-Man is present in nanofigure form, but Wasp is here as a full-sized minifigure. Hope van Dyne comes with a brand new helmet, which utilises the more recent Ant-Man helmet with the antennae and I really like the yellow lenses on her eyes.

New for the Wasp are these wings, which have a really nice hexagonal pattern on them, and are made of the same flexible plastic as Vision’s cape. It goes a really long way in elevating the Wasp’s appearance and makes her look much more elegant and closer to her look in the movies.

Here’s a look at Hope’s face beneath the mask, and also her back printing.

And here’s a comparison with the older Wasp minifigure. As you can see, the new helmet works so much better in this case, and her eyes are so much more vibrant. There have been some slight updates to her torso design, but it’s really the wings that showcase the biggest upgrade yet.

Wong and Nick Fury

This is Wong and Nick Fury, the primary handler and manager of The Avengers, responsible for portal-ing or gathering Earth’s mightiest heroes whenever there’s a significant threat.

This version of Wong first made an appearance in 76218 Sanctum Sanctorum and Nick Fury has also made plenty of appearances, most recently in 75216 Iron Man Armoury.

Here’s a look at their back prints. I don’t believe Wong ever visited the Avengers Tower in the movie, so his presence here is a little odd, but Nick Fury is a great addition. I would’ve much rather someone more important to the Avenger mythos like Agent Coulson or Maria Hill take Wong’s place.

SHIELD Agents

Next we have a bunch of SHIELD Agents, who are all new and exclusive characters making their debut in the set. We get a woman, bearded man and someone who looks a lot like Tony Stark. He’s holding a new recoloured silver briefcase so he must be pretty important.

Hang on, it is Tony Stark in disguise as a SHIELD Agent! This is a nod to the time-travelling sequence in Endgame as Tony Stark attempts to sneak out with the Tesseract, before accidentally getting knocked to the ground by a grumpy Hulk and setting off the events of the Loki TV series.

Chitauri

On the enemy side, we have 4 Chitauri who are under Loki’s command. They’re all identical, and all look pretty ugly. The heavy numbers make sense as the Battle of New York was where the Avengers/Stark Tower was featured most prominently, but it does seem like they were added in to pad the number of minfigures up.

And here’s their back prints.

Loki

Next we have the God of Mischief himself, Loki! He features a mischevious smile, green cape and his iconic horned helmet, and is the same version as the one from 76248 The Avengers Quinjet.

His alternate facial expression features a mouthguard to stop him from talking and playing tricks on the Avengers, which you may recognise from the first Avengers movie or Endgame.

Here’s his back printing and alternate face, which also includes a wig if you want to switch his look up.

Ultron

Up next we have one of the Avengers’ greatest nemesis, one of Tony Stark’s inventions gone wrong – Ultron! This MK1 version of Ultron is superb, featuring highly detailed prints across his body, even down to his feet and is a terrific looking minifigure.

I really like the mesh of exposed wires on his chest, as well as the Avengers logo on what’s left of his white chestplate, and the sinister looking damaged mask.

And here’s a look at Ultron’s back featuring more exposed wires and innards. It’s a huge upgrade of the one found in 76038 Attack on Avengers Tower and a fine addition to anyone’s LEGO Marvel collection.

Alexander Pierce, Pepper Potts, Dr Helen Cho, Erik Selvig

Next we have a lineup of exclusive characters, including 3 who have never been portrayed as minifigures – Alexander Pierce, Dr Helen Cho, Erik Selvig!

This trio have various roles in The Infinity Saga, with Erik Selvig perhaps being the most prominent, as the person controlled by Loki in the first movie, and Alexander Pierce who played a big role in Age of Ultron.

You may also notice that Pepper Potts uses the same head as Black Widow, which is a little disappointing. I really would’ve liked Pepper in Rescue form, but I guess her business attire works fine if it’s in the context of the first few Iron Man movies.

Pepper does come with this stickered panel which has Tony Stark giving her a call, and a nod to an American Cheeseburger (Tony’s favourite) and a dice with Snake Eyes.

Kevin Feige

And last but not least, we have Kevin Feige, the architect and godfather of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He’s naturally a big fan of the Avengers and it’s fantastic that LEGO and Marvel greenlit his likeness as a minifigure, which is bound to be a big drawcard to LEGO Marvel fans.

He comes with a takeaway coffee cup and a Taco, which I guess is meant to also double as some Shwarma, referencing the iconic Shwarma Post-Credits scene of the first Avengers movie.

Kevin also comes with his signature baseball cap, with an Avengers logo printed on it.

It’s very rare for LEGO to produce minifigures of actual named people, and I’m really glad they immortalised Kevin Feige as a minifigure and I can’t think of a better set to slot him in.

Final Thoughts:

76269 Avengers Tower features an incredible lineup of 31 characters spanning Marvel’s Infinity Saga. It has nearly everyone that you can associate with MCU and Infinity Saga in it, and is an instantaneous way to immediately boost your LEGO Avengers minifigure collection, while adding in some really rare and uncommon variants like Wasp, Vision, Erik Selvig and Alexander Pierce, who will all likely not crop up in any other sets.

While there are some less than ideal cases of Marvel repurposing minifigures from other sets, I can see the logic in doing so, as it’s not realistic to expect fans to buy every single LEGO Marvel set out there, and for fans investing in a significant amount for a set like 76269 Avengers Tower, it makes a lot of sense to include Avengers staples.

That said, there’s still a glaring lack of printed detail on arms and legs – Black Widow and Hawkeye fixed this problem slightly, but for a set like this, I really would’ve liked LEGO to go all out with prints – because the tools and capability is totally there.

There are also some glaring omissions. For a set that aims to celebrate the Infinity Saga, and all the events and people that are in close proximity to the Avengers/Stark Tower, it would’ve been nice to use this set as an opportunity to give us another Agent Coulson or Maria Hill, and even introduce Happy Hogan – all of whom were instrumental in getting the band together.

Spider-Man is also missing, which I think would make so much sense as he’s such a core part of the Avengers, but Marvel fans can easily remedy that by adding one of the many Spider-Man minifigures in their collection.

This would’ve also been a fantastic opportunity to include Quicksilver (as Vision and Wanda are here) from Age of Ultron, as he was only included in one set, 76041 The Hydra Fortress Smash and is one of the rarest MCU minifigures.

That said, you have to draw the line somewhere, and you could easily go on and on about who should be in the set, and before you know it, the minifigure lineup is now 50 characters deep. For what it’s worth, 76269 Avengers Tower features a rock-solid minifigure lineup, and has nearly everyone you need for the complete LEGO Avengers experience.

  1. Uh there is one Friendly Neighborhood teenage Avenger missing here.

  2. Vincent Lin says:

Alexander Pierce comes from Captain America: The Winter Soldier and has a brief cameo during the Time Heist in Avengers: Endgame, he already bit the dust prior to Age of Ultron.

  3. Denise says:

Really appreciate the breakdown on the minifigures! As I mostly collect the minifigures, it helps with the decision on to buy or not to buy. Although I understand the recycling of some characters… I think for a set of this price it isn’t too much to ask that this be minimal. Adding arm or leg printing at the very least, but how hard can it be to design something new with several movies to use for reference. Even battle damage some outfits?
Also the 75216 Iron Man Armoury links to the wrong set – it should be set 76216. Cheers!

    • Jay Ong says:

Glad you enjoyed it! Yeah, I don’t really mind the recycling myself, but still think it’s important to point out as it mostly hurts those that collect every single Marvel set.

It is very helpful for those that don’t have these characters before. The lack of arm and leg printing is just disappointing all around. They’ve addressed some of that by giving those black legs with straps to several characters, which works, but the printing quality is still so far behind the CMFs.

  4. Lavan Iswaran says:

Really glad you’re braking down the set review into different sections Jay. At least its not overwhelming to write up eveything into one go. Can’t wait for your review on the build itself and all the easter eggs included. Looking forward to that one.

The epic sized build aside. I usually take the minifigs included into heavy consideration before purchasing my Lego sets. Especially since I am only collecting Marvel/DC sets. It’s just way too expensive to branch out to other themes and with the lack of space for display as well.

Personally feel that the selection could have definitely been better. As compared to the Daily Bugle that introduced new characters like Blade, DD, Punisher, Firestar and Black Cat. It’s quite unappealing to have multiple variations of the same OG MCU characters. I also do understand that the set based on the MCU and not the comics like the Daily Bugle which would give them a wider range of characters to choose from.

A lot of repeats from the 76248 Quinjet set. Even if Widow did get a leg printing, which is also used for Hawkeye and Falcon not making it exclusive, is quite lame.

That being said, the damaged Mark-6 armour, Vision and Ultron look epic. The appearance of Wong and Wasp in the set is unnecessary. I agree they could definitely have given us a Coulson, Maria Hill or a new Quicksilver instead. (But a new torso has been leaked, so I guess we will be getting an updated minifig soon in another set) .

I’m still quite 50/50 on this set. It’s starting to feel a bit redundant having multiple variations of the same characters with slightly tweaked torso’s. But thats just me. Might succumb if im able to find a set at a cheaper price once it starts to get discounted down the line.

    Cheers.

    • Jay Ong says:

Thanks! I figured I can take my time with this one, and slowly trickle it out so I don’t rush it all.

The selection in this set definitely hurts those that have large collections of Marvel minifigures, like yourself, so yeah I can see why it’s underwhelming. The “exclusives” themselves like Erik Selvig, etc are also a little underwhelming as they’re not as interesting as proper superheroes.

Definitely buy this as a mega-sized Avengers Tower, and not so much for the minifigures. If you’re a Marvel fan, it’s a fantastic “base” to display all your favourite characters here, same as the Daily Bugle!

  5. Dollaway says:

The Pepper head has freckles, while Natasha does not. Am I wrong?

  6. Karrot says:

Needed Quicksilver for sure, he was an Avenger! Agent Coulson, Maria Hill, Agent Rumlow (in SHIELD uniform) and Agent Sitwell would have been nice SHIELD additions to have, with the latter two unlikely to ever appear in minifigure form after this. Give us some Iron Legion bots as well, and the definitive Ultimate Ultron!

And how nice would it have been to get dinner/ civilian suit variants of our Avengers, specifically for that opening Age of Ultron scene. This would be the only set where it is appropriate. Bruce Banner in a lab coat would be the minimum, allowing us to recreate his appearances from the first two Avengers films.

Having Selvig with no possessed/ mind stone with blue eyes alt face feels like a huge missed opportunity. And it is extremely disappointing for such a forward thinking brand as LEGO representing a diverse brand Marvel with repeated female minifigure heads in the same set, for major characters (Black Widow and Pepper Potts). Tony having the same head as well, with HUD even as a SHIELD agent… doesn’t feel like it lives up to the value of this set.

Agreed on main Avenger minifigure prints lacking. Overall, despite my negative comments here there’s a lot to love about this minifigure line-up! I guess I was disappointed in what could have cemented this as the ultimate Marvel set…

    • Jay Ong says:

Yeah Coulson is a huge miss. The Avengers wouldn’t have been The Avengers if not for his sacrifice.

Not even a nod to his Captain America trading card collection!

  7. Terrence Myers says:

It’s a crime there is no Stan Lee
