LEGO April Fool’s 2021 News Roundup

April Fool’s! I hope you weren’t taking yesterday’s news post about LEGO requiring ID to purchase 18+ sets seriously!

It’s been a long running tradition on this blog to drop an April Fool’s gag each year (with the exception of 2020 because of the pandemic when I thought it wasn’t appropriate) so I’m pleased to have been able to write joke post once again.

LEGO, blogs and communities also typically get in on the festivities, and here are some of my favourites from around the AFOL community:

Some really fantastic gags here, and I always look forward to April Fool’s from the LEGO Community as it’s a fun time to let the sillies out, and come up with all sorts of creative LEGO gags and headlines.

To revisit some previous Jay’s Brick Blog April Fool’s gags from previous years, check them out below!

We’re also celebrating a big milestone – this is the 5th year of being a LEGO Ambassador which I also announced on April Fool’s 2016 disguised as a joke post. I can’t believe half a decade has gone by!

Did you spot any other LEGO April Fool’s jokes I may have missed? Let me know in the comments!

Whoah, Jack Stone, that’s a name I haven’t heard in years… I just jumped on eBay, and was shocked to see how cheap they are! Just picked up the police station used (excellent condition though, includes box/internal box/instructions) for $60! 😮

The one about Microbricks is not an April fool! There are such things as “Nanobricks”. I think they’re Japanese, and to be fair are taller (relatively speaking) than Lego, more like Megablocks. They’re actually pretty cool though. I have a Fender Stratocaster guitar one on my desk.

Good eye, and yes they even used the same images as Nanobricks. I have a few Pokemon Nanoblocks sets I got from a holiday in Japan 🙂

I love my Nanoblocks! Far better value for money than Lego, and a much longer building experience. So I had a good giggle when I saw the real Nanoblocks photos.

Well you definitely got us newbies good, I’ll be looking for it next year. Thanks J for everything you do

Haha! Just a general rule of thumb to never trust anything online on the 1st of April. Ashnflash’s Batcopter got me as well as I thought I had missed a reveal. You’re most welcome!
