New LEGO Monkie Kid set heads for the heavens in Summer 2022!

Next on the Summer 2022 preview list, is a small wave of new LEGO Monkie Kid sets for the second half of 2022, with 3 new sets that we know of, that are set to be released in June 2022.

While this is one of the smaller Monkie Kid waves, the sets are really fascinating, especially 80039 The Heavenly Realms which explores more of the Journey To the West mythology that the theme is based around.

80039 The Heavenly Realms – 2433 pieces

LEGO Monkie Kid once again explores the mystical side of Chinese mythology, with Monkie Kid and friends heading to literal Chinese heaven!

New characters such as Taishang Laojun, an actual deity, are introduced, which really fascinating, as this is the second Chinese deity after Caishen, the God of Prosperity in 80108 Chinese Lunar New Year Traditions.

Designed by Justin Ramsden, who also worked on 80036 The City of Lanterns from earlier this year, this is a spectacular looking set, and will be on my to-buy list as well.

80038 Monkie Kid’s Team Van – 1406 pieces

Next, we have 80038 Monkie Kid’s Team Van, a really tall van, shaped after the blue cat, Mo, which precariously balances 2 shipping containers, which are used as a base/living quarters for the Monkie Kid team.

Most of the main characters, Monkie Kid, Sandy, Pigsy, Mei, are included, as well as a TukTuk driven by 2 Shadow Monkeys, Savage and Rumble.

Thee is also an unrevealed set, 80037 Dragon of the East, which should hopefully surface soon!

All in all, a small but very potent wave for LEGO Monkie Kid fan, and it’s so good to see this theme continue to flourish, with that I think are some of the best playset designs in any LEGO theme currently.
